If its a carp water that your fishing them carp baits will be your best bait. I just used standard carp rigs myself, try a fixed lead on one rod then a running lead on the other. I like to use 22mm halibut pellets as a hook bait aswell as mixed size pellets for loose feed.

I know what your saying but the catfish is a natural scavenger and if they are in carp waters they will more redily pick up boilies and pellets that carp anglers have thrown in than use energy in catching live baits. This is the reason so many carp anglers catch cat fish or get broke off and say it was a huge carp that snagged them up. Everyone has there own methods im just saying that i have found on carp waters you are better off with carp baits and if it is just cats that you want use larger baits.
