jimmyg 6
Took my dogs out for a walk at first light this morning on a remote public byway, then down the track drives the local keeper in his landrover, stops, opens the window, says 'oi, put them feckin dogs on a lead', I says 'Why?', he says ' its the law, you must keep your dogs on a lead down public footpaths and byways', as I understood it, that is not the case and you should only have to if there is a sign up stating that dogs must be kept on a lead. He says 'I dont give a feck what you say, get them on the lead'. I said 'Feck off im not doing it', then he says ' Ive got a shoot on here later'. I said ' If you just asked me nicely in the first place explaining why you needed me to put the dogs on the lead then I would have done it, but not for the reason he had given'. He says ' will you put your dogs on a lead?' I said 'only if you say Please!' which he reluctantly said, and I then put them on the lead. Arrogant c*nt. To cut a long story short, who was right?? Guest MOLLY
I would have said that the keeper was probably righ Jimmy....but he isnt, not according to Defra etc. The second one states where dogs should be leashed...bowling greens etc. The bit about dog fouling is interesting and i never knew about......there are lots of places they can foul without you needing to pick it up http://www.defra.gov.uk/environment/localenv/dogs/owner.htm http://www.darlington.gov.uk/Environment/Y...and+the+Law.htm MOLL. Simoman 110
You only have to have the dogs on a lead if there is a local byelaw regarding that stretch of public footpath..........
Simoman 110
You only have to have the dogs on a lead if there is a local byelaw regarding that stretch of public footpath.......... With regards fouling Moll, your dog can foul woodland, agricultural land, pavements with a speed limit above 40mph and your neighbours garden 'cos its private property  I know about the fouling of land act and dog byelaws, I used to be a dog warden..........
