nasher1 258
I got a call from the shop today saying my new R10 had arrived it came with a new BSA VC silencer and its blueprinted, should I have paperwork with this stating that its blueprinted. I had a quick zero session with it and it seems alright it doesn't like AA fields like the other barrel did spits them everywhere it seems to prefer H&N field, i am gonna try and get out on the farm saturday and zero it at a proper range 45 yards, I hope this ones alright as i had a call from a farmer today saying the crows have turned up on-masse and need sorting atb nasher. matt_hooks 188
Setting the zero at 45 yards? Is this a standard 12 ft-lb rifle or an FAC version? If the former, then that's a wee bit leggy imho. 45 yards is right on the edge of humane kill range for a 12 ft-lb rifle! Course if it's FAC then ignore the above! Quote Link to post
Marksman 934
Get yourself chairgun pro mate input the relevant information and it will give you your optimum zero range that will keep you within the 2.5cm kill zone at a varied range e.g. .22 Defiant. BC- 0.029 11.7ftlbs@613 fps Scope height - 1.6" Zero range - 30M Max range - 50M here are the calculations:- 1st zero- 10M 2nd zero - 25M 10M Aim bang on 15M Aim 1 mildot holdunder 20M Aim 1/2 mildot holdunder 25M Aim bang on 30M Aim 3/4 mildot holdover 35M Aim 1.5 mildot holdover 40M Aim 2.5 mildot holdover 45M Aim 3.5 mildot holdover 50M Aim 4.5 mildot holdover This will keep you in the 2.5cm kill zone from 11M to 28M Darryl Quote Link to post
nasher1 258
Setting the zero at 45 yards? Is this a standard 12 ft-lb rifle or an FAC version? If the former, then that's a wee bit leggy imho. 45 yards is right on the edge of humane kill range for a 12 ft-lb rifle! Course if it's FAC then ignore the above! Its a .177 12fpe model I have a single shot raider which is zeroed in to 45 yards and I can get a sub 20mm grouping with it using H&N fields and have a pretty impressive kill rate with it, I wanted a multishot though and thats the reason I sold the AA S410 in .22 and bought the R10 in .177 hoping to replicate its range, I took the R10 out last night for a proper zeroing session I took the wrong tape with me and had to do it in metres rather than yards, I set up at 35 metres and tried 4 different types of pellets the best results were with wierauch FT a nice tight group with the occasional flyer, the next best was H&N field with a slightly bigger grouping but the domes and the aa fields were crap through it you might as well have thrown a brick, I'm going to get a sample pack from pellpax to establish the best pellet through the barrel, then again its been such a lot of hassle, now the guns working as it should I might sell it on and go back to a AA a nice straight outta the box 5 min zero kill bunny sort of gun. in a nutshell I DONT LIKE BSA R10. atb nasher Quote Link to post
