MR TEA POT 1,287
hi folks,i have just been sat here pondering over this question, there is probably a simple answer. On pcp airifles i was wondering how come you get more shots per fill on a .22 gun then you do a .177,i thought the bigger pellet would need more air to shoot it.Please don't give me hassle about it :11: just wondering. Thanks bigeddie. It's the other way round mate the .177 require's more pushing power for the smaller base than the .22 does..that's why if you put the .22 barrel on the .177 it take's them over the limit Millet I didnt know either cheers Millet. MickC 1,825
A 177 pellet is lighter than a 22 pellet. So a 177 pellet can be fired at a higher feet per second than a 22 can be fired. The heavier 22 pellet needs less air to take it up to the 12ft/lbs limit than the 177 pellet does. Also the faster the pellet travels the more accurate and less loopy the trajectory of it is.That is why the 177 is more accurate than the 22 also. mole catcher 1
[i think you will find it is because the law states that we can use a gun with a power at 12ft lbs muzzle energy. so that said a smaller weight pellet would and does travel faster in order to give you an impact at tetsing range of 12ft lbs. So with that in mind you would use more air to push out a .177 pellet from the same gun in .22 I cant remember the formula to work this out so please dont hassle me over this post Quote Link to post
MR TEA POT 1,287
eddie same goes for carbines aswell , the shorter the barrell less shots as it takes more charge to get the pellet out as fast and powerful as the longer barrels by the way my s-types gone mate dont know whats next like , ill keep you informed Thanks folks for info. dandyman, what can i say all that pondering about that gun, all my advice i gave you(free of charge) :11: :11: and you get rid.I still think you are missing your S10 :11: I would go for the AA S410 nice little guns they are i have had some stuff with mine, just haven't got a digi camera to put up pics, well i have one but its in the house somewhere, the good lady put it away i will never find it.I am sure she put lord lucan and shergar away thats why they have never been found :11: .Keep me informed mate .
