wullieh 53
ferrets like this Hob : i pump 3 sprays onto latex gloves and rub hands together then rub up and down the ferret, then after 7 days bath the ferret if andy is still on the ferret i will repeat this one more time. But if it is a single Tic then just remove by turning anti clockwise and pull, then id just give the one spray on gloves to make sure that any eggs are killed aswell as any fleas . Quote Link to post

Old wife's tale matey, it don't matter which way you twist it! What's important is that you remove the whole of the tick (including the mouth parts) without squashing the body of the tick, as this can lead to the tick regurgitating it's insides into whatever it's got a hold off. Not good because ticks carry all sorts of horrible shit including lyme disease in some species. You need to grab the tick by the head, pull & twist in one fluid motion. The best tools for this is a purpose made set of tick pickers. I know I've already said that in this thread, but they are by far the easiest method of tick removal. They look like mini claw hammers, and you just slide it under the tick, twist and pull. There's two sizes in the set I've got, you can do all sizes from full grown ones to the tiny pin head sized ones. I used to use tweezers before I got the pickers, and that was an experience for me and the ferret.... Best fiver I've ever spent! Quote Link to post

Neal 1,891
I agree 100% with Maltenby on this one. You've just got to try one of these to see how amazingly easy it is to use. I've pulled out tics from between toes, inside ears and on eyebrows without the ferrets flinching. Quote Link to post
