Was walking my whippets in the arboretum near me today, they were loving the brief bits of sunshine and having a really good run round, was walking back to the car when i heard a really loud screaming, walked over and a bloke was holding a Muntjac down that was screaming blue murder.

 

Walked over and the guy went mad telling me to keep my dogs back, they werent too bothered as it wasnt running anywhere, and i think the Muntjac was more worried about the 14 stone twat holding it down rather than my dogs.

 

The bloke with him said it was a springer that attacked it and its leg was really badley broken. I said to him i didnt have my knife but could be back in under ten minutes with one from the car, when the guy holding down said you are not killing anything, at this point i walked off, just couldnt be bothered to put up an arguement to the prick.

 

So i walked back to the car and the screams were echoing through the woods when a chap with a muzzle in his hands was rushing along the path towards me, i said to him was he looking for his dog and he said yes, i said what was it and he said a Saluki, bingo i thought, the bloke with the deer must of mistook a springer for a saluki! When i told him about the deer he shot off towards it.

 

Poor thing was in agony and should of been put out of its misery, f*ck knows what the doo-gooders were doing but it was frustrating to say the least.

Small deer should have be release ,if only surface wound, or dispatched if major injury. Screemin muntjac is distress to hear for children & lady walk by.You have right idea, but some people , who now all...now noting.

good story , a waste of fresh meat for the pot ,had a simliar prediciment happen to a freind he was walking with saluk type lurcher a big roe buck jumped on the dogs ,and they held him off protecting there owner ,so he held it down a do gooder came and the guy says go and get a vet the do gooder went for vet but by that time my mate , had to leave as it was warm ,to warm , so he left with the deer to a better needy home ,it ended up a fiasco as wardens were looking for big saluk lurchers and a scruffy collie cross, but tnever to be seen again. this was all pre ban mid ninties
