Last night

Hi Guy's and Gals,

I went out last night to the Paddock and the Cemetery, scared the droppings out of one bunny who was sat munching on grass as I came through the fence. Needless to say he gave it legs and stuck his tail up at me as he hopped off at speed to the nearest available warren. I got the distinct impression he was saying :feck: to me.

I could see many cotton tails at the far end of the paddock and 6 or so over the fence that I go through to enter the cemy. There were a dozen or so that I could see over the big warrens over towards the A63 so I went over to the caravan, slipped out my baby and gave her a chunk of lead to feed to the 1st bunny she laid her crosshair on

I stalked over to the fence near where I had come in and then used the fence as cover to make my way over to the bunnies :ninja:

Got just over half way there and I heard a car door go behind me near the road, I was aware of it but thought nothing about it and carried on my stalk.

I got myself within range and placed my baby on a fence post looking at the bunnies through the scope. I decided that one of the medium sized ones was going to be my 1st prize of the evening and moved the crosshair to just behind its ear.

As I moved my finger to the trigger, I heard kids shouting and all the bunnies looked up, decided something wasnt right and vanished into the safety of old ladies garden! :censored: that was going to have been an easy kill :wallbash:

I looked behind me to see Mark (who gave me this permission) and a couple of kids heading over my way.

We had a little chat and he asked me when exactly his Cart for the horses had gone walkies.

I assumed that he had taken it somewhere as the gate was still locked and the paddock was fenced off :icon_eek:

Someone had been and knicked this ruddy great cart. Thieving gets.

He had driven past someone elses property and seen an Identical one in their property. Anyhow to cut a long story short, he got his cart back within an hour. The guy that had "Paid £150" in a pub last week decided that having the police call around was not a good idea and surrendered the cart back to its lawful owner

Anyways after they left, I began another stalk around the paddock and came across a single bunny. Before I got within range I heard another car door go. This time I looked round fast and bunny did a runner :wallbash:

The car belonged to my ol buddy Niel, (RiffRaff). He had come down for a natter and had brought his CluLight and orange filter.

After a stroll around the cemetery (nothing in the way of bunnies to be seen) we headed back to the paddock. Niel turned on the light and we could clearly see dozens and dozens of bunnies at the very far side of the paddock.

As soon as the light went on, the bunnies gave it legs :censored: these things are really peeing me off, Roll on the spring and summer foliage so I can get em in natural light, cuz they seem to be petrified of any lamp that comes from inside the paddock. Yet they dont seem to mind the sweeping white car headlights that constantly shine from outside the field inwards

Perhaps I need someone on the outside with the lamp pointing inwards and me shooting in the direction of whoever is holding the lamp  Any volunteers? :D

Hiya Tony.

What a nightmare mate :(

If the bunnies dont mind the car lights sweeping across, I wonder if a static light at the end of the paddock would work?

You could try putting an old car battery up there in the corner during daylight, rig an old 12volt light up to it up in a tree /bush, or even attach to a pole.

Run the wires back to your static shooting position with a dimmer switch, leave the light on very dimly where they show, and give it a go.

As you have little cover in the paddock, it may work for you mate, might be worth a try buddy.

hi tony

can i ask how long you stay static for?

as always our patience is our biggest weapon apart from the obvious.also have you tried a red filter on a dimmer switch? me tinks your not the only one lamping this paddock  if they run so quickly :censored: i would love to come up and hold your lamp for ya! :tongue2:

PS tell riffraff to knock the after shave & deoderant on the head when in the field

is he a smoker?

could of been alot worse tony mate RAIN!!!

Gary: It fecking did!

Davy: When I'm by myself my static shoots can have me prone for up to 6 hours (like it did in the snow). I thought perhaps someone else was lamping last year, but there has been no sign of anyone else. I think its the direction of the lamp that scared em. I went out this evening and well thats tonights story

Stealthy: Fresh Air? I'm only feet away from the constant deisel and petrol fumes off the busiest road in the area, If I fart I considder the odour a breath of fresh air :icon_redface:

Bill: I was actually thinking somewhere along the same lines of that when out this evening  I'm going to be looking out for a 12 volt battery and a 6 volt bike battery to convert my cree torch so I get longer use.

I've a home made red filter for it and that proved great tonight.:boogie:

I can see you having a Red Letter day soon Tony and making up for lost time thumbs.gif. I have to admit Patience is somthing I lack alot of these days compared to when we used to go Decoying and sit for Hours, I should say I probably sit/stand in the same position now no more than 40 mins before moving on! its certainly not the best tactic in the game I must admit but at the moment I have Ants in my Undies and can't keep still long wink.gif....

A good few years back I borrowed a book of a pal about Old indian tracking techniques! it was a cracking read with most thing smacking me in the face as they was so obviouse!! one small Hunting quote made alot of sense and spoke fathoms in few words, "Walk Little.....Look Much...."

Who you calling a Tart? Like you admitted, it was YOU chatting up the butch bloke in the other field not me

:tongue2: Soz Bud, but you left yourself wide open for that :11:

And yes please if you would be so kind the offcuts would be useful :notworthy: and any chance of a tin of JSB Exacts? I'd like to give em a try. Let Rodney know I will Square up with him as soon as this appeal is heard and they give me what they owe me (may even be able to order a scope off him as well :D )

Just hoping I get no more manky bucks from there. Walk little.... Look Much.... I've heard that before and it makes perfect sense

As for them crawling things in your undies, you can go to the chemist and get stuff for that these days you know its all confidential as well :tongue2: and no one here will tell your missus
