weather........

Recommended Posts

hi guys,

just thought id get other peoples view on how the weather effects your quarry?? as the last couple of times i've been out for rabbits when the weather was overcast damp and dreary i havent seen much, and what i saw when spooked didnt come back out to play?? gona have a go today at one of my shoots then maybe mosey to another if no luck at the first.

hope there's a few in the bag later!!

How did you get on? :)

well..... i had a CRACKING day.... what a result !?? i nearly didnt go out to be honest but

i started off at my first shoot... 100m into the walk round and saw a rabbit laying prone... i dropped to the deck and started stalking, lasered it finally at 60m, i was happy to take the shot so whack... red eye rabbit!! :boogie: was quite happy with that...

then walked down to my made up hide that sits around 40m off a very large warren.... not even 5 mins past and a rabbit popped its head up... now i must say that i would not normally shoot young rabbits but as i am responsible for pest control on an orchard of young saplings that get ripped to shreds but rabbits and squizzers, i decieded to take the shot.... down it went....

another 20 mins past and another young one had a walk round..... down it went...

it was a beautiful day, i had wild foul just 5 meters on my left of the hide have a cluck and wonder then i poked my head out for a look about and a huge buzzard landed on a fence only 10 meters from me.... what a beautiful bird!! was massive!!

then just before i packed up i thought id take a walk down one of the paddocks and a big old squizzer sat there looking at me then darted off..... dam..... with that i saw it with its back to me up a branch..... big mistake!! down it fell

was a great morning!! then i went to a new permission i just got... a grain store with permission for rats only at moment but they have 300 acres of land!! its ideal woody land!! hopefully fingers crossed if i behave then will let me branch out a bit.....

within minutes of turning up and walking round it was clear there was a serious rat problem, 3 downed before i left.... good i hate rats dirty scabby scaly flea ridden black plagued bottom feeders!!!

Well done Alex, bet you were real chuffed you went :D

yeah i really was!! had the best shot of my air gun time so far!? and a nice few in the bag....

thats true davy you do get what you put in, and to be honest my time has been taken up so much with other commitments that i guess i have come to expect maybe too much when i do get around to going out!! i must try and make more time. just had a couple of times when its been over cast and drizzling and not seen anything!?

but sometimes the very best days are when you nearly dont go.....

all the best guys

nice shooting mate! how are you finding the xl tactical?

welll..... i really struggled to get back into having a springer as ive been pcp for years but to be honest after getting my 30m groups from nearly 2" down to just over 1/2" and many different pellets down the barrel i am now getting on with it... and happy.... took a while though!! i have done a bit of research about a theoben gas ram conversion kit for them but some people rate the convo others say there isnt much benifits over a well lubed spring and well looked after action??

have you got one then?looking at one??
