The Great black backed, Lesser black backed & Herring gulls are still on the general list in Wales. :yes:

Whether or not they're all suitable quarry for air guns is another debate, but it's certainly not illegal to take them. (In Wales)

This is the most important bit for anyone shooting a bird under the general license;

to prevent serious damage to agriculture, or to preserve public health or safety or to conserve wild birds

As Mal says, you cannot shoot something just because its there, you have to do it for one of the above reasons.

Is the House Sparrow not on the red list in Wales Mal? :)

Not from what I can gather Stealthy mate, I believe they were added back to the Welsh general licence at the same time as the starling.

Either way, I don't think I could bring myself to shoot one of them, I quite like seeing them about the place. :thumbs:

Who told you it was illegal to shoot gulls? :hmm: Certain species can be culled under the general licence. An airgun however is not suitable to shoot the larger species of gulls except for close range head shots at a static bird. 8)

a head shot is were i shoot most things. only animal i shoot any were but head is feral pigeon in the crop :thumbs:
