I would split them, they will rear together, but you often get problems with one jill dragging the other about, treating it as if it's a kit. Also if they both have big litters in the same nest, the smaller ones sink to the bottom and don't do well , often dying. Unfortunately these small ones are usually the jills. So unless you want a high percentage of hobs, split them. Quote Link to post
The one 8,592
Id leave them together as they have always been together it might stress them parting them and a young jill might need a hand rearing her kitts Quote Link to post

Anthropomorphism ? At least mine was based on 50 years of experience. Quote Link to post
Kay 3,709
I would also split them up ... i think they need there own space when there rearing young & dont be tempted to peep at them the second there born ... Totally aree with Romany about the jills mothering each other purely a personsonal choice of mine Quote Link to post
ulverston moocher 60
I would also split them but it is all down to personal prefrence and if your willing to risk the kits I have had two jills raise litters together and were fine and have left my hob in with the jill and he was fine with the kits and she was fine with it as well but I wouldnt recomend it. sh 08 17
Depends on how big the cage/hutch is to be honest my mates ferrets are in like a wendy house with 2 or 3 nest boxes. he has 2 sisters rear the kits togeather and all came out fine. Just up to people if they are in enough space then whay not? Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
Split my jills while they have kits, I've had jills without kits fighting with jills with kits, also had jills take kits from other jills because they had none of their own, but were unable to feed them because they had no milk, so they perished. So my choice is to seperate them, just makes life easier if you have a problem, thats the good thing about having a spare cage Quote Link to post
