davyt63 1,845
hi every one i went over to the same permission as yesterday, believing i would do well. and got myself in a great spot for some static shooting, and well within my zero! so waited 45 minutes and out they came 6 in all only they were 72yds away then to my amazement a pigeon landed about 12/14yds away from me,ah me tinks i get to bag the pigeon, and the rabbits will return to the hedge. and i can break cover and get under the tree i was talking about. so took aim on the pigeon THWUCK ! MISSED!! and thought oh here we go again, but close shots are not my favorite. anyways i move over to the tree get myself down in a prone position and waited another 45 minutes and 4 came out, this time 67 yds so had to do at least a 27yd crawl so this was cool with me as it wasn't that far.of i start to crawl keeping a close eye on them at all times, every time there head moved up i stopped.every time it went down i moved i must of crawled 20yds and doing fine! then the road works go by making a hell of a racket.and all but two went in to the hedge with the other two just on the edge of the hedge row,so another 7yds to go slowly i carry on.and it was not long before i got within range! by this time i was so had a rest for 15 minutes, i nearly fell asleep! but once i was rested it was game on got my self sorted and cross hairs on target THWACK! follow through its down a quick adjustment in rifle and body and believe it or not the other one was still there THWACK!! up it went and down it was.then kicking away i see it go to wards the hedge at the end of my session i never found it put my hand right down the hole nothing but it was a steep one put me torch down and just in sight was a stone dead bunny. could not get to it so left it as a warning to the rest of the vermin and that pretty much sums up my short trip out today where it fell and don't forget lads the comp on spike25blue site here is a link http://www.airgun-hunter.co.uk/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?1050.0 happy hunting davy Quote Link to post

Phantom 631
Nice shooting buddy Shame about the one down the hole though. From what I understand, if you want to clear a warren (not 100 % sure of this though) of bunnies for a few months or so, stuff a dead bunny down it. As it rotts and the skin opens the nasty niff of death fills the place and the rest of the occupants move house Like I say when not 100% sure, I am happy to be corrected I'm going to have to join in the comp next time it runs Phantom Quote Link to post
Sweeney-Todd 208
Hiya Davy. Another good stalk mate, and good shooting. If you can see that Bunny down the hole with your torch, try a 4/0 trebble fishing hook taped to a twig, and hook the little git out of there. ATB. Bill. Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
Well done Davy, but if you are ever in the same position with the bunny you cant reach, and old ferreting trick is to cut a length of Blackberry and shove it down the hole just past the rabbit with the thorns facing up, twist it a couple of times and it should wind up the tangled in the fur, then haul out the bunny Quote Link to post

A few of my mates use this technique and there is always an old briar to hand. Cheers Sib Quote Link to post
