Steve Albano 21
I got a number of new mole traps recently, mostly made in UK and some I believe from France. Can anyone ID these traps? Any information on these traps as to date country of origin, name of manufacturer, or date of manufacture would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! May have to do separate uploads on these, as files are a little on the large side. Quote Link to post

Steve Albano 21
Any ideas on the date of manufacture of something like this? Would this be a commercially produced trap or a home made trap? Also, can anyone explain to me how the triggering mechanism worked on this trap? Steve Albano 21
Another English trap, I believe, but any info on manufacturer or likely age would be appreciated. Quote Link to post
john b 38
Steve The trigger mechanism on that Flat Top and Full Barrel is virtually the same. The spring is bent down allowing the kill loops to hang down in position. There should also be a piece of cord on the end of the spring which passes through a hole in the centre of the trap. The trigger is then inserted into the same hole, from underneath, with the bulk of the trigger inside the trap. The tightness of the trigger holds the cord, which holds the spring. Moley, passing through the trap, knocks the trigger peg, dislodges it slightly, which releases the cord and so the spring, pulling up the loops. Kinda' like this Quote Link to post
Dakaras 3
Last one could be anytime in 1800s I would guess, but no more info than that Im afraid. Mole trappers of that time made there own and that sort was certainly used in England. Quote Link to post

Steve Albano 21
OTC, you are a veritable font of mole trap knowledge. Thank you, sir. I'll have to post some more pictures--I didn't know this was going to be so easy for you guys. John B., thanks for the explanation on that trigger mechanism. For the life of me, I couldn't figure out how that was supposed to work. Makes perfect sense now, and quite an ingenious idea. Quote Link to post
