magpies for ferrets ?

On a resent beaters day 2 magpies were in the days bag at the end of the day so i said to the keeper i would take them home for my ferrets he looked at me gobsmacked and told me i shuldnt be feeding ferrets on corvids but i have been for 40 years . Is it just me who does this ? (not all the time)

Don't see a problem with a mixed diet mate, corvids and all

Not at all mate, mine love 'em!

 

Some people are stuck in their ways, some of the old boys round here insist I should feed mine on slops & cat food, not bone, meat and whole prey items..

I try to feed mine nearly everything i shoot but some times they wont eat crows other time they scoff them down never seen them pass on a magpie though

If a wild Polecat caught a magie I dont think it would turn its nose up at it, so keep slinging in the maggies

never had any problem feeding mine on crows,magpie, wouldnt do it to often tho

Mine used to go mad for the.

Fed them on a varied diet of rabbits,Crows,Pidgeons,Squirrels , jays ive shot or trapped when i was keepering. During the summer we would catch about ten or more magpies and crows day in larson traps.
