Day oot

Recommended Posts

Haven't posted much this year, but thought today warranted a wee story.

I put a share a days sport post in before xmas, and after an extensive selection and interview procedure

whistling.gif, decided to take 'johnboy' out for a spot of ferreting.laugh.gif

True to his Word, John turned up early, after a long drive. We made the ferreting ground by about 10.15 and met a shooting buddy there.

We started off slowly, but after a spot on lunch, the runs started coming frequently, we bolted a lot more than we caught, the main problem being the proximity of adjacent warrens. They rabbits were able to get to ground before either of the dogs could gain ground on them. We could have done with a long net to be honest.

We stopping setting nets, just to get the dogs some runs, and they both put in 110%. Mines now asleep on the settee. 110% knackeredicon_redface.gif

A really enjoyable day.....

And it just goes to show, that sharing a day with the right people can be a success. John put a good account of himself in today, and it was a pleasure to have him. He has been invited back next week.!!

Its nice to share with another ferreter, rather than dragging a shooter along for the ride.

When it got too dark to ferret, we took John for a spot of sniping and lamping. Good shooting on his account, gave us another 3-4 in the bag!!

As a post editorial to this story, I would like to announce the demise of my favourite Harkila Sweater.

It was in immaculate condition, after only having been worn daily for 3-4 years. It kept me warm when I was cold, and kept me dry when it was raining.

unfortunately the German Shepherds cage was left open on Saturday night, and it was taken in for a cuddle and chew. The injuries proved fatalno.gif

Yes, it was too big for me...but I loved that jumper like no other...

RIP little jumper........gone..........but not forgotton....doh.gif
