hedz31 1,308
its a gamble really pal you could end up with pups having good feet from the saluki or bad feet from your dog there is no way certain of knowing and it might pass it down the line again i wouldnt breed from him to be fair also if you did breed a litter from him you may get pups with good feet you cant be sure at a young age but any one that comes to look at the pups may notice the sires bad feet and decide not to have a pup so you may end up with a litter you cant find homes for i would just try and cure your present dogs feet and enjoy your hunting time with him Quote Link to post

If its pottasium permanganate hes on about you get it from the chemist its usualy in a small plastic container or jar and to look at it looks like purple crystals i put a small tea spoon in about 2 pints of warm water then bathe the dogs feet however wear rubber gloves as it stains the hands a nicotene coulour. It is a fault [bANNED TEXT] buying of hancock as he will breed of any greyhound as long as its in season or ready for comeing inseason [bANNED TEXT] he gets them. You will just have to use common sence [bANNED TEXT] you run him.atvb dell Quote Link to post

scotty2306 37
my saluki whip grey bull grey has often rubbed her pad clean off it seems to happen on the big back pad it dont happen much but when it does its annoying,i dont know if its maybe something she runs on thats in the ground or what.i find it happens more when her pad are dry and rough i put sudo crem on them each day and it seems to let them give a bit more.once she was chasing and the bunny went through the gate and on to the tarmac and up the dyke the dog jumped the gate flat out and turned when it landed that skinned most of them but that was a accident that couldnt be helped Quote Link to post
huntingalltheway 2
Sounds like you have ended up with a dog with poor feet from his breeding if you are road walking him regular and his pad are not hardning and there spliting when you run him i would say soak his feet in heavy salted warm water to thicken the skin and kill infection take him to your vets to see if he has a skin condition on his feet if that does not work i also would be wary of breeding from the dog incase he passes his poor feet condition on hope you get it sorted pal Regards Hedz i know i am gutted hes a fantastic dog and this is his only pitfall such a shame theres a lot of intrest within my lamping an ferreting circle towards pups out of him your right though if i cant sort the problem i best not breed out of him!!! cheers all you can do is try all the remedies and hope the best but just some dogs feet are just not up for it it can be for many reason. It doesnt help him being a 3 quarter cross .greyhounds are known for bad feet. Think you might of just been unlucky and had one with the bad. Quote Link to post
