Ferreting today.........

Recommended Posts

Finally managed a quick look out this morning with the dogs, the ground was like concrete first thing this morning so we started with the longnet around a patch of bramble and just let the dogs run them in. This little patch produced ten rabbits in about half an hour. I moved onto the small three and four hole buries which run along the dykes which normally hold one or two rabbits, here Ted caught two more and I dug down to two...................14 rabbits.

Smokey ,my blue dog in the pictures is fast, but Ted is so quick off the mark ,Smokey rarely gets a look in,the rabbits never run more than a few yards ,so the dogs have to really be switched on ,plus they are invariably running at an angle in the dykes.

Pity the ground was so hard ,still there is allways next time.
