oakey 57
Please dont get me wrong i think a charity gig for the earth quake disaster is fantastic .But what im saying is it dosent hurt their career one little bit take for instance sir bob geldoff if it wasnt for band aid he would have been no different to jimmy percy or fergal sharky .This may sound harsh but some years ago my firm had gerry and the pacemakers booked to play our works dinner dance. Then Hillsbourgh happened ferry across the Mersey re entered the charts and the cost of the band went through the roof. Please fell free to look up jimmy and fergal
Guest jt750
So Bob geldolf did what he did because he wanted to jump start his career ..if i remember rightly he never did a thing after the boomtown rats ...and i certainly don't remember anything from them around the time of band aid ... or are you still pissed off because of the price hike Edited January 24, 2010 by jt750
oakey 57
Yes im still pissed off because of the price hike and ive probably now tarred all celebrity fund raisers with the same brush . But the truth is a lot of people make a lot of money out of charity .One charity were asking for donations to send old jack to see his sick wife hospital nothing wrong with that, but the picture used on the flyer was my dad who was quite happy living at home with mum . But my niece worked in advertising and couldnt find or afford a model .
Flynn 314
I am all for Helping those in need, however i see Simon is making a single with some top stars.... we buy the single, hence our donations go the the aid, however You dont hear of the Likes of Simon dipping his hand into his HUGE Bank Balance, which surely would in the first instance be apropriate........ he and other wont even notice a loss of a few thousand, i would certainly feel the loss of a few quid right now
Ratreeper 441
imo you are a negative b*****d. Don't focus on who else 'might' benefit, look at what bringing a famous face to a charity can do for the people they are trying to help. Its the same with the rspca, 'oh they kill more animals than they save....yes but they still save thousands of animals etc. It seems to be a british thing to always be negatitve
