jonesy 111
Got a phone call from a friend yesterday both his bitch and pup had gone to groundand in hus words, going ballistic, but he didnt have a collar on any of them,so i pulled my boots on grabbed the dogs and jumped in the motor, when i got there he was standing at the side of the road with both of his as they had come out,i was still curious about the place he was talking about so i got my two dogs and walked over, both of mine wanted to be in there so i put the collar on the older dog that i got given from a friend,he went in and stayed there so i left him too it,now im not one hundred percent about this dog so i didnt think there was anything in,i thought maybe there had been a fox and he was just folowing old scen, every time i checked with the box he was a foot further on from the hole i dropped him in and heading to another entrance, with my ear to the grond i could hear him digging and bumping on,i thought he would just emerge from the other hole once he had pushed through however he seemed to stay in one place longer than any other time so i thought id just dig him out as it was only 0.6 on the bellman, when i broke through he was firmly attached to a dead vixen,my mate was a bit pissed with his dog,but obviously i wasnt. Fair play to ya for getting your boots on and getting out to help out your mate. As for the outcome? Who knows? Maybe it was already dead before the dogs went to ground? I've seen foxes dead with in reaching distance of the entrance. If they're struggling to find food, coupled with this cold it may not take long for them to succumb to the elements. How did the fox look? healthy, unhealthy? Best of luck for the season mate. Quote Link to post

jonesy 111
I thought that the bitch and pup might have killed the fox as i have dug this bitch on a few occasions and she normally is very rough with them, however my dog had a couple of puncture marks on him so it must have been alive, the fox looked in decent condition a young vixen, maybe last years cub.
