festa 206
elo lads my turn to do the write up for us so here t goes went out got 3 came home lol na when we were out last we decided to give it a few days for the snow to clear as shooting in the snow is a bad idea so the plan was shoot last night ferret today well all that changed when mr god upstairs decided to dump a load more snow on us over the new year so the shooting part went right out the window . we did however decide to take the ferts out for a run . even though we all know rabbits don't like playing out in the crap weather 1set was 13 holes i know talk about unlucky there was rabbit sht and tracks going to every hole so we thought were in here lol two ferts in 1 either end and nothing so on we went to the 2nd set this was only 6 holes but they were off the scale on the finder 16+ deep and guess what we get a lie up 6ft down so out came the spade's now bearing in mind the temp was -2 and the snow was still on the ground the dig took wor kid 15 mins all these sets were in sand and digging was easy .. the 6ft turns out to be 4ft (batteries of finder) anyway got down to the ferret hooked onto the 1st bunny stop ended quick fill into the hole onto the 3rd set which turn up nothing as do the next 2 sets .... set number 6 we had another dig but this was only 1.5 ft bunny number 2 then the wind picked up 30mph SSE wind even the nets were getting blown off the holes as we came to set 7 the pup went straight down a hole started digging and barking like mad ( i think she's starting to get the idea) she's only 4 month old and its the 1st time she's marked sure enough she was right rabbit number 3 straight into the nets . by this time the wind was that bad plus the rain started we decided to cut the day short on the was back to the van we found out why we didnt do as well as we did someone had been out the day before and instead of burying there guts after they gutted the bunnies they just slung the guts all over the place we also found a set got sight covers ..... ive put the pic's on ont many this time though atb gary Edited January 2, 2010 by festa Quote Link to post
Marksman 934
aye....we'll have to keep a look out for that poacher like, we also found a few dig holes just left there not even backfilled. We've also informed the farmer that there's someone else kicking around causing a mess that isnt us so he's also gona keep an eye out. Pi**es me off when we take the time to do all the stuff properly, permission slips etc and someone who doesn't give a sh*t comes along, causes a mess and could lose it for us. At least we've informed him of the situation and he knows we're a good couple of lads Darryl Quote Link to post
