Thanks hi, this year ive been yousing 1mm 7x7 galvinised wire and have found it excelent for snaring rabbits it doesnt tangle and twist ike brass and foxes dont break it when they scank your rabbits well worth trying you still can,t beat the brass wire, for cost, versatility, its also very pliable and strong when spun up firmly, thats how all the pro. trappers use it for pegged snaring out on open runs, the foxes may pull the rabbit carcase from the wires at times and leave the heads, but they don,t break the wires, and a simple double knot , acts as a simple ingenios swivel system, the americans use 7x7 for their rabbit and snowshoe hares, but there aremany of them changing to our way of snaring , where up to 30 rabbits can be taken with one of our style pegged snares, which can,t be done with aircraft wire, but when push comes to shove, any wire if strong and pliable enough will do, but we are trying to keep it legal, and release non target species. especially prowling house cats, thats why i devised new breakaway rabbit snares which also totally eliminates woodland deer which are accidently foot snared from losing a foot through necrosis, all trauma around snared rabbits heads has also been totally eliminated, Quote Link to post

Galvanized wire is unforgiving and cannot be tensions properly. The breakaway eyes that snareman invented (and to this day continues to improve) removes all possibility of trauma to any animal if used correctly. In recent trials ALL rabbits caught were alive and in good health until their humane dispatch. If you have a fox take a rabbit out of your snare the eye will often open and stop damage to the snare wire. Brass is still the only real alternative when it comes to rabbit snaring.
