Recommended Posts

One of my Ferrets (albino Jill, age unknown as is a rescue, spayed ) ex worker of mine now retired, has a small bald patch with no fir on her back approx size of the tip of my index finger, she's had this for about 2weeks, it shows no sign of irritating her, in every other aspect she appears fine & bright, all my ferrets eat well on a meat & pellet diet, & i can see no sign of mange or ringworm.

I was wodering if anybody can give me any pointers or is it nothing to be concerned about?

Cheers, Dave.

Do you have any hobs in with her? If so then this is more than likely the reason. Nothing to be concerned about it is just the norm. If it gets any worse put her away from the hob for a while to give her a rest.

I do have a sterilised hob in with her, i'll give it a try but do you think its the hob causing the patch?

Unfortunately having trouble uploading pics, but will give it another try, examined her tonight & it doesn@t appear any worse, Finding a vet in Birmingham that knows more than just the basics on ferrets is a problem, may have to travel to find a good one if it gets any worse.

Gday Kaiserdog,

You've pretty much answered your own querys.

A vet IMO is the best option here as you really don't know what

has caused the loss of hair.

At least you will have a certified assessment for your ferret.

Well worth the travel to find out what it is as it could lead

to more hair loss on more of your stock if not attended to.

All the best with it.

Cheers,

Shaun
