There was a small topic on Whipte Patterdales a good few month back.

Just to get a decent thread going again, has anyone seen, worked or know of any.

What were they like, height work style etc.

Pics would be good.

Also patts with white markings as well.

Heres one of mine(now ratting)

You tell me? :hmm:

In one of your books there is a black dog with a white Sock.

The bitch above had litter mates almost identical to the dog mentioned. Were there any white dogs or lakey types in the dogs make up?

My bitch pictured had no whites for a few gens as far as I know. Before that who knows.

There was only one all black pup, then my bitch, the rest were all smooth reds.

Maybe Bull added?

Was there a Few breedings of SO CALLED White PATTS in or around Manchester?

The mother of the dog with white socks was all white herself, she , in turn, was bred out of a choc dog and a black bitch. I have owned six white terriers that were bred out of coloured stock. All related and all going back to choc/black matings. :victory:

reminds me of a few years back when we had a gas leak out side the house the gas board came out an old irish fella was along purely to do the digging.

he must of been in his 60,s a one man digging machine, you,d be chuffed to have along anywhere,he could dig.

he took a look at my dogs from a distance and said he kept "black russells"

i said you mean fells/patterdales? he snapped back no, "black russells" i left it there.

They are a good thing for injecting some fire power in to the russell blood that is around although some lines of russell dont need any more fire. I am after a Duggan bred dog to put over my russell looking bitch in a couple of years. Essencially seen as the conformation in type for russells varies so much in size, weight, coat type and the way they work a predominently white terrier bred out of black stuff can be classed as a russell, im my eyes this is a good thing for ensuring that at least smooth coated russells will have a very long lifespan in the world of working terriers,

Opinions weather you agree or disagree are welcome.

Good point there Webby.

And east mids, when my dad was a keeper in the 50s they were classed as terriers or jack russells.

He kept a black bronze bitch, a beddy/fell off Newcombe, and russells all at different stages in his carreer.
