knitting my first purse net

hi guys decided that i would have a go at making a purse net, everything that i have read seems to say use either hemp or spun nylon, just wondered if any of u guys use anything different, as im not going to use this net for ferreting, would i be able to practise on just some cheap polypropelene twine from a garden centre, and also when it says that u need to double knot nylon how do i do that?

Thats the way to do it mate just buy some cheap string and practice on a couple of nets etc then when your happy buy a spool of whatever you want and start knitting ,Its not just slipping knots its going to hard your hands till your used to it

We make all our own purse nets and only ever use polyester as its a good alround cord to use

Some ferreters swear by hemp some 10oz nylon its all personal choice but which ever you choose they

all make your hands a bit sore when you 1st start making them your hands get used to it the more

you make they are cheaper to make yourself and most important of all the self satisfaction you get

when you catch them bunnies in your own made nets is priceless GOOD LUCK WITH IT MATE

well this was the first practise run last nite, just some cotton string i had laying around, even made my own needle while i wait for one to be delivered, im well chuffed considering i learnt from a vid on you tube lol. its only 10 meshes wide by 10 long like i said just to see how it goes, gonna get some cheap poly twine from the garden centre and have a go at a full size one, i dont even own any ferrets(yet lol)just wanted to learn the art of net making, thanks for the input guys, Ian

hia mate just tied my first net lastnite learnt from

martin kings peg to peg realy enjoyed it our lass had

a go hopefully she will get into it and make me a few more

hope you get away with it hemp was easy to work with to
