3jackwhite3 2
pencoed hunter there is wild boar in the forest of dean there is a newspaer my little brother delivers and they are in there all the time, it is called the wye valley review i think. I also go beating on a shoot that is east to the forest of dean and last year a wild boar bolted from a thick patch of brambles and it was about 3 to 3 1/2foot to the shoulder it almost knocked a beater over, that was the second sighting on that farm the previous sighting was 2 years before and there was sighns of them rooting up the fields. Also my old college tutor was going to set up a deer farm in trellech which is near the wye valley and about 6-7 miles west of the forest of dean(as the crow flys)and one of the fields was destoyed by wild boar rooting it up and wallowing in it. So there is a good population of wild boar about the forest of dean area. Edited November 9, 2009 by 3jackwhite3

lurchergrrl 1,441
I've heard that some folks in the uk keep skunks as pets? How bizarre! Sure they're pretty to look at but even with their glands removed, they stink! They can spray up to 15 feet and will do so at the slightest appearance of threat. The scent can travel for up to a mile. If they get you/your dog in the eyes it causes temporary blindness. It is impossible to wash the smell off and it can stay in the skin for up to a year - every time the dog gets wet you can smell it. Also, when freshly sprayed, the smell is enough to enduce vomitting in even the hardest of folks. I can't begin to describe it and nothing I say would be an exaggeration. Imagine the smell of fox magnified by, oh ... 1000 times. I was relieved when I first discovered that there were no wild skunks in the UK. Having first hand experience of them I can honestly say I sincerely hope this report is a one off and not a sign that wild skunks are colonating.

Well I bloody hope so! They are horrible critters and will make life very unpleasant for both pet and working dog owners. They're opporuntists as well, they'll eat pretty much anything and they're very bold. My dogs back home were all skunked at various times in their lives. Years later I still feel ill just thinking about it.
bedrock 16
If it is true every single one should be culled all they will do is become a massive pain in the ass and compete with our native wild life. So lets go and shoot some skunks
