stubby 175
can some one please tell me what is the difference between the mark 2 and mark 3 they look the same to me Cheers James simply put, a mk2 was the prototype for the mk3, the mk3 will have a squeltch knob on the rear, to fine tune when searching, theres probably a few other differences inside to do with the workings, as the mk3 came out soon after the mk2 Quote Link to post

comanche 3,246
can some one please tell me what is the difference between the mark 2 and mark 3 they look the same to me Cheers James Here is a picture of the back of a Mk3. The Mk2 does not have the pinpointer sensitivity control knob . The collars for the Mk3 seem to be made of grey plastic while Mk2 collars are black. Mk2 collars tend to eat batteries quicker than Mk3 collars probably simply because they "pulse "at a faster rate. Just to confuse the issue it seems that some early Mk3 locators might have been made without pinpointers. In the words of Ashley Walker of DEBEN, "I also assume you are using quite an early version of the MK3. Our latest MK3 reciever has a pin point control(same principle as the MK1 wheel) " . Also from the same source ."There are also a number of other small improvements we have made in the last year or so ". (source ;letter from Deben 26.10.2007) Basicly the only way the Mk2 design could be made workable was to inlude the supposedly out-moded technology of the well proven Mk1 and call it the MK3 ! Now I'm off to buy a new anorak Edited October 27, 2009 by comanche Quote Link to post
