I agree with what you say Glenn. But surely worker to worker when possible is more lightly to get the results that people on this site would want. And not to offer a non working dog up for stud on a w

Any other guys on here have a plummer terrier?....stunning little dogs, hard working and very loyal........i think im the only owner of one in the entire southwest, never seen one other than mine in this neck of the woods...was maybe thinking of putting mine out to stud and get the breed going stronger....i beleive the nearest breeder (reputable) was norfolk where mine came from.

where abouts in S.W. are you? I'm in cornwall and used to keep a few plummers. And YES they were used to ground all you doubters!

I guess that must be BM ALL used to ground hmmmmmmm

And who might you be? Hmmmmmmm?

Why would you put a untested 2 year old up for stud even if its a :db: Hard worker :db: I’m not having a dig at plummers I just dot see any point in it. atb bedrock

????????

Didnt do stevies dog charlie any harm ....being as his dam was just 16month old and sire 4 year old and both never entered to fox. Infact i could go back further still..but that wouldnt help the matter.

What i would say that 18 years ago if we hand'nt have bred from untested dogs then the breed would be dead now.

One of the most famous plummers sid (rocky alice) eneterd by brian nuttal for paul flack served with 2 hunts dug more than any hunt terriers with both those 2 hunts sereved nothing but russelles.Yet another waste.

Syd wasn't used at stud to plummers because he was shatter marked. I certainly would have used him as a stud if he had not died prematurely . TO GROUND. I believe the PTA would not register "mis marked" dogs. Coat pattern was/is used as too important in breeding criteria IMO. Hence a top class working earth dog like syd was not used.

It was certainly nothing to do with PTA policy at the time Syd was never registered because of his owner! Who didnt want anything to do with the PTA. Hence he was never used.(cant use unregistered dogs)

The PTA eventualy decided to close door after giving the owners of all plummer terrier 12months to register there dogs ..some did some didnt! paul didnt ..end of.

Paul was and is not bovvered about clubs never got involved expect for judging a show for a mate of mine years ago in blackpool, and in my opinion Paul made a hash of that too.

But nothing was set in stone, ......as Vandal that also missed the deadline was let in by the PTA committee after dereck the then gaurdian of vandal wanted "in".

People at the time preferred small terriers Syd was quite a large dog and unspannable by my large hands. His offspring at phil fishes to russells were bigger still.

The only thing he had going for himas a stud,...was his "inherited" instinct,

His sister however a caped bitch did more for the breed with her offspring and yes many went to earth work..so the better deal for the newbies as we had a standard to keep.

If I had the choice between a mismarked terrier and a to standard terrier both from the same breeding both producing working stock then i pick the to standard.

Many dont and breed any old dog to any old bitch becasue they work !! then down the line they produce russells, that dont sell very well.

Ive nothing against mismarked terriers as long as they are excellent workers in some respect and can justify being used ...Ive owned/ worked /bred from mismarked dogs and bitches myslef due to working ability ...Pepsi for one .

But surely if you have a breed standard then its best to use the dogs that resmble that standard,,over mismarked stuff of the same breeding. I allways breed back to the standard stuff.. i ceratinly would not carry on seeking only mismarked terrier that work..fools do tho.

Breeding to "standard" working terriers is the aim or should be the aim of the plummer breeder but alot breed only for bucks...and they are usely prefixed legion!

why is it every plummer owner feels the need to write a bloody essay :o

:laugh::snack:

The only thing Syd had going for him as a stud?? how do you know if he wasn't used on plummers?

Also,re vandal-he,like Syd, was not registered by choice. On good authority,i believe he was registered, long after the book closed, at the request of the PTA.

History now anyway. Its such a shame the plummer comes with such baggage, bitching and backbiting.

Its only rivaled by the bull X bullshit!!!=@ =@ =@

WELL MOST BREEDERS OF ANY BREED EVALUTE THE STUD FIRST BY PHYSICAL ATRIBUTES.HE HAD FEW I KNEW THIS AS I HAD HIM IN KENNELS FOR A WHILE

Also,re vandal-he,like Syd, was not registered by choice. TRUE

On good authority,i believe he was registered, long after the book closed, YES SEE ABOVE at the request of the PTA.

BUT NOT ON THE REQUEST OF THE PTA I KNOW FOR IT WAS I AS REGISTRAR WHO ANSWERED THE PHONE TO DERECK AND IT WAS I WHO APPROACHED THE COMMITTEE

I CERTAINLY DID'NT DO ANY BEGGING NOT MY STYLE MATE ;) THEY EITHER WANT IN OR DONT IF THEY DONT SO BE IT AS IT WAS WITH MR PRICE. NONE OF HIS STOCK WAS REGISTERED NONE HAD REG NUMBERS OR PTA PEDIGREES BUT THAT DIDNT MEAN THEY WERE NOT ON FILE.

YOUR GOOD AUTHORITY NEEDS TO TELL YOU WHO DID THE BEGGING (IF HE DARE !!)

IT WERE'NT ME...INFACT I WAS ANTI VANDAL AND STILL AM BECAUSE HE THROS EVERY FAULT KNOWN TO THE BREED AND HIS BLOOD WAS NOT RARE

History now anyway. Its such a shame the plummer comes with such baggage, bitching and backbiting.
