SNAP SHOT 194 Posted October 6, 2009 Report Share Posted October 6, 2009 i wouldn't do it mate,there are slight differences in the specs, And also the brass in the 5.56 is thicker, leading to smaller volume dimensions.... it also has a higher working pressure than the .223 sammi specs, you could give yourself headache.... stick to the rounds the gun was chambered for.. and save yourself some grief... JohnGalway 1,043 Posted October 8, 2009 Report Share Posted October 8, 2009 Some people will argue it's ok to do it. From all I've read the 5.56 gives off higher pressure than the .223. I would only use the cartridge that the gun is designed to fire, that being .223. Quote Link to post
