migmog 1
Hello ladie's & gent's just thought id share a little moment i had lastnight while out trying out my new s410 pcp air rifle. The night started with me jumping in my trusty old diesle van & heading out to a farm i have permision on. I got to the farm loaded the rifle and walked to the field's id chosen to try out my new toy. As i got to the gate i put the lamp across the field & noticed a few rabbit heading for cover except one that made the misstake of clamping just 30ish yard's from the barrel of my untryed s410, i leaned on the top bar of the gate and took aim at the rabbit that was probably unaware that the second it lifted its head it was more than likly about to have a very early night. 30 second's or so went by and up popped bug's the cross hair was right on the money i pulled back the trigger & bug's hit the turf without as much as a twitch. The pellet enterd the front of the scull & exited the back of the scull "sorry bug's but whats got to be done has to be done and im after rabbit pie for tea tomorrow"!! I jumped in my trusty old diesle chariot & headed to the next chosen location while thinking to myself how nice bug's is going to taste tomorrow cooked in a crispy pie with white wine sauce carrot's & peas YUMMY!! :tongue4:. After a 5 minute drive i got to my next bit of permision & pulled up along side the hedge row and got out of my to cool for school old diesle chariot and quietly got over the gate leading into the field's. No sooner had i got into the field's i heard a strange noice and stopped dead in my track and switched on my super sensitive highly technical radar's "MY LUG'S"!! I tuned into my super human night vision and scanned the surrounding area but not as much as a ping on the rader's or a movment on the night vision, hmmmm my super sensory perception was telling me i was not on my own and that my highly technical radar system & super human night vision might be getting slightly out of date, some of you mear mortal's & none bionic people call it old age but im a highly technical 6 million doller killing machine with an s410 in my hand's!! After a minute or so i went back into manual mode and continude walking and scanning the fields with my rifle lamp but nothing so i headed to toward's the next field when all of a sudden i heard that strange noise again but this time i wasnt going to rely on my just slightly out dated highly technical 6 million doller support system's and switched on my back up my £49.99 Deben tracer stinger 70 meter beam tactical gun light with red filter down and started scanning the area and as i swung to the left there they where 2 young badger cub's playing & rolling around on top of each other just in the next field!! After a few minutes they went behind a bush and i took the opotunity to get in the same field as them so i looked for the quietest part of the fence to get over. As i climbed over i hit the ground hard and thought to my self iv blown it they must have herd that so i held my breath and stood compleatly motionless for a few minutes before pressing the switch on my gun light and they where still there only a few meter's away from me but looking in my direction before turning round walking up a slight incline in the field, i started following them as quiet as super humanly as possible till they stopped and started playing again, then all of a sudden i noticed another one as it came from behind the hedge row and hijacked its brothers or sisters right before my eyes. By this time i wounderd how many more of them there was here so switched the light on and to my amazment there was another, i couldnt belive it but this one was bigger and im assuming it was mummy badger!! I stood there totaly amazed that i was surrounded by this time by badger's and only feet away from me, i stood so still just watching them as they got closer and closer to me still playing and chuckling at each other just like ferrets do. Then before i knew it they where playing around my feet, banging into my wellies my heart racing like crazy at the exsitment id been blessed with a truly pinnical moment in my life it was like a scen out of gorrillor's in the mist but with badger cub's you couldnt buy this moment for all the tea in china. All of a sudden i found myself becoming a normal mortal human being with feeling's of over whelming joy & excitment thinking to myself this must be a blessing, what have i done right to deserve this ?? All of a sudden one of the cub's come running right at me and pounced on my wellie then shuffled backward's just as a ferret would while having a mad half hour then one of its brothers or sisters jumped on its back and they started rolling round my feet, then i stertad woundering where the theird cub was then i suddenly felt preasure on the back of my right wellie boot the thing was only having a go at my £60 wellies but it would have been worth every penny if i had to buy a new pair today even. After about 10 15 minutes they lost interests in my smelly wellie and started to get a bit further away, i scanned the field for mum but she was to buisy snuffling aroung for worm's and slug's then i spotted a rabbit about 50 yards away and it clamped as the beam went over its head so i started moving towards it and at the same time trying not to frighten my new found friend's but the next time i turned on the gun light "nothing" only me and bugs, it was as though it had all been but a dream with not a single badger in sight they must have herd me walking or the click of the safty catch being put into the of posison thats all i can think of anyway but it was time to wake up from a real life dream. So there you go ladies and gents thats how my night went lastnight a truly amazing moment and without a doubt a pinnical moment in my life as an animal loving hunter! Oh i nearly forgot about bugs he took the same fate as the first with a clean shot to the head and its rabbit pie on the menu tonight! If you have a simaler story to tell dont hold back im sure everyone would love to here it. Thanks for taking the time to read this thread. Hollie 21
Had fun reading that, well written Mine isn't as exciting as yours and i can't be bothered to write a really long story but basically.................... Last weekend i went to stay at my dads, he lives in a farmhouse surrounded by fields, i had been out a few times with my super-high powered torch to see what the rabbit population was up to, scanning across the fields i saw 2 eyes coming towards me, i knew it was either a fox or deer but couldn't make out what it was. about 15 mins later me and dad go out again and shine across the field, this time we could see it was a fox, he was still a long way across the field but he appeared to be stalking a rabbit, we were not close enough to stand and watch for ages 'cos it wasn't really that interesting and dad had a meal out booked for 15 mins time!! A bit later on i decided to have another look but this time i couldn't leave the house because i was in charge of 3 small children and a baby who were all sleeping peacefully SO i opened dads living room window, turned on the torch, and there..........................stood in front of me, a mere 15 feet away was a handsome, very healthy fox chewing on a rabbit, he never flinched once, now, i have lived in the countryside all my life and have seen many foxes, either dead or running across the road but this was amazing, he was totally un-aware that i was watching him, so.....i reach for my camera........it ISN'T in my hoody pocket i always have my camera with me except at this very moment when i could have got a wonderful photo ARGHHHHH. Like i said nowhere near as amazing as your story but to me it was special because i have never ever seen a fox that close, in his natural surroundings, it is an image i will carry with me....................would have been even better if i had a photo but i guess the mental image will have to do!!!!! lurcher lass 9
very nice write up migs !!! i have a few when i lived in london with me dad we had garden of 150 sq foot, which had very tall hedgegrow on the sides and the bottom third was overgrown,, well we had a vixen that had an earth there, who in time had several litters of cubs while we were there, the vixen was near tame, she'd come in the house if we leave the door open, once we forgot to close the door before going to bed and she was curled up on me dads chair like a dog! the cubs were gass in their own right, we watched them play like pups with footballs and they'd climb all over the garden furniture,, once an older cub came in the house as far as the kitchen and dragged out our meat that was defrosting on the side! was sweet til we realised the cheeky feck had taken our dinner!! we had aggs on toast that night most recent one is when i took dogs out the other night for a jog, i heard an owl in the distance so i stopped to listen when right above me was an answering call, the noise was so clear and crisp in the quiet night, it was beautiful, i love wild life thats why i enjoy hunting,, i get to be surrounded by countryside and see stunning wildlife whilst half the country are still in bed! plus i know the life story behind what i'm eating- age, diet, how it was dispatched and the conditions it was butchered in. plus it takes fantastic and it free! what more could you want?!! be nice to hear other peoples stories, thanks migs talk later i'm sure Annemarie xxx

migmog 1
You'd have got an A that in ur exams pal, quite far fetched and hard to believe but i hope its true. Fibbins not my thing mate i wouldnt gain anything from it ! The land i have is full of badgers and everytime i go on it i can get feet from them but thats the first time iv encounterd cubs there. If your quiet enough and dont move a muscel youl be suprised how close they'l come to you as iv explained here. If you dont make a sound and no sudden movment they'l stay but the second you make the slightest sound you can wave good buy, they dont mind lights as long as its not a million candel power and i wouldnt try and take a photo as i did a month or so ago, just turning the power on the camer was enough to make it bolt, why not have ago ?
