Malt 379
Went out with the 12 month old beddy/whippet last night. I hadn't been out with him for a few weeks, due to the weather, and also because he'd had a few barren trips out littered with near misses, and he'd started to get a bit frustrated. I think the rest done him the world of good. He yapped like feck in excitement/frustration on the first slip, but nailed the rabbit! He was then silent for the rest of the stroll. He's only had single rabbits up until now, but he managed 4 from about 10 slips last night. Not great numbers, but not bad for the ground I was on, and a massive improvement all round. Not the best of picture, only had the phone. Quote Link to post
arcticgun 4,548
Nice one mate, good to see it's starting to come together for you, I first tried my young beddyx on the lamp last year with pretty much the same results as you, the summer lay off has done her the world of good and she is running well so far this season! Best of luck with him over the coming months! it will soon be 10 rabbits caught from 10 slips, enjoy it, atvb richard Quote Link to post

Malt 379
Thanks fellas. We're both learning, he's my first lurcher. I shook the lamp at the rabbits last night as they were running, I'm wondering it it made a difference. Quote Link to post

FUJI 17,729
Good stuff Maltenby ,as for the shaking of the lamp, you just do what you do mate, the dog will soon adapt to your methods especially as it's just learning,it'll soon know that for instance that if you start shaking the lamp as the rabbit heads for the hedge and if he has success with catching them there he'll soon realise by shaking the lamp each time he runs that this may be his chance to nail his bunny as it looks for safety .Onwards and upwards for you both. All the best PP.
