dare 1,103
Dog fur startd to look thin and the skin it self was raised. Tried to get a pic but cant really see it to well what with only using my phone. Wasnt really sure what it was as couldnt see it that clear but could see a sort of scab. Decided to shave his fur for a closer look and this is the result... Slight squeeze and very little puss comes out so im guessing the dogs been his useal self and tried to hump a bitch only to get a nip telling him to sod off. Then i wonder if another dog could leave like a little lump also above the main area which seems affectd :/ Any other ideas what it could be? thats the only thing i can really think of. ferret15 0
looks like a nearly healed puncture wound. i think you are right the lump could be scar tissue ? must of been done a few days ago to be that well healed. are there any other marks on the dog ?, is the dog wormed ? dare 1,103
noticed the fur lookd different a few days ago but left it. Dogs wormd upto date. Not really sure what to do, temptd to leave it and just keep the area clean. Thats if it is a bite he is always getting told by his missus for trying to get his leg over lol...thats only thing i can think of. If the lump and redness isnt down in 2 days ill run a course of amox seeing as was very little puss when squeezed. Think it could possibly be a fungal infection? Mac 30
Had the same prob with a young dog a few year back. Raised red lumps and thinning of the coat in general. Was back and fro to vets , allergy test done , skin scrapings the lot. Nothing showed up. Vet happens to mention adding more oil to the dogs feed like salmon etc. Researched as much as i could then put the dog exclusively onto Raw/Barf and bought salmon oil and havent looked back. The dogs coat thickened up and red lumps (spot/boil like) vanished. Could have been a food allergy, i dont feed dry feed at all now cause i do think it creates alot of skin and coat problems. Then i use the Camrosa oil once the dog had dried properly. Perhaps let it chill in front of the fire for a few hours. That method has always worked for me whenever a dog has had a skin complaint. Good luck!
poacher3161 1,766
I would say its a form of dermatitis that could be caused by a few different things.Have you put any different bedding material down? .Medicated dog shampoos should clear it up.atb
