Graham ward

Recommended Posts

an old post i know.but this brings back some memories i remember these dogs that mr ward had i myself bought a bitch direct from mr ward in the 80,s blood red she was and a good grafter infact this was to become her downfall.she was a hard dog who would just rush in i gave her to a friend who also had other gw dogs and he continued to work her untill she met her end on a dig.these dogs at the time would outshine other terriers at work.mr and mrs ward were very helpfull and had time to explain there lines.its a shame they decided to call it a day.it was tow law i went to when i visited to collect my pup.the last of this strain i heard of was around 10 yrs ago a local lad who i know had a dog by the name of turk many years ago from mr wards strain still had a few of the strain left but stopped working them saying they were to hard for the job and wanted a strain to bolt rather than mix it with old charlie due to the fact age was catching up with him and the digging was taken its toll. .as already mentioned mr and mrs ward where well respected around the north east for there line breeding of what i can say was a 100% worker.

he had a hell of a dog years back called 'Piper'

Franc Lowes owned piper not G ward.

piper was a border/lakie first cross. was lost to ground many years back. a very good honest dog.

Wouldn't argue, but Ward had a dog at his place called Piper, weather he owned it or not i don't know, Piper was put to Penny to produce Stobbarts Prime who was the dam to Twist.............. Think Piper was out of Tank and Vandal....

the red dog is bred the same way... (now dead)

Davie, one hell of a dog in his hayday

Fine looking dogs pictured.

On a separate note,Is that the same Stobbart's Prime behind Brockton's CH Alf?

i once phoned gw for a terrier in the early nineties he sent me to a stalker by the name of jock black through in inveraray,he had terrriers from gw what had a litter at the time,i chose a red smooth coated dog pup,i thought it was too leggy and gave it away to mark naisby, one of the worst mistakes ever i made ,around a year later it had a tight curly coat and ended up a good sensible terrier and could bolt a fox
