RicW 67
I have just had the strangest experience of my life. As I have said before, I am at Sussex University. I got back from town a wee while back and decided to go up to the student bar for a last beer or two. On the way up I saw a dog fox, who I know has his lair on campus. He was perhaps 10 feet away from me. I squeeked at him over the back of my hand and he walked up to me, rubbed his head on my knee and licked my ankle. I scratched his ears and he went off about his business, no panic just wandered off. Having a fox being friendly towards me like that felt really strange. He was just like a friendly dog. Scratching a fox's ears? Come on! This is a wild animal! He is in wonderful condition and I don't think that even if I get the chance over the Downs with my rifle I could bear to kill him. What would you do? RicW

RicW 67
I dont see the point killing them if there not causing a problem but if they step out of line its :bye: Agreed. We have too many rabbits on campus anyway so the foxes are helping out. It's just that it felt so strange having this fox come up to me like that. He was so friendly! By the way, I don't do drugs any more. Been there done that gave it up. Ric

Lamper121 239
No sport in shooting something that walks up to you and licks the end of the barrel is there.....
waidmann 105
any wild animal that behaves in this manner is a potential danger( mange, fox worm .............) all well and good to be feeding but keep it sensible. no body wants to erradicate the fox( do they?) as for this changing any attitude towards foxes, well thats uo to you bud. shoot with a clear consience. if a bunny licks some part of your anatomy will you be selling the gun? if so give me first refusal a smashing experiance i'm sure. atb

SEAN3513 7
nice to see someone showing some respect to charlie !!!!!!!!! when is everyone hell bent on shooting everything in sight ????? dont get me wrong.....it it was a "pest" on a farm etc...it would have to go, and I would have no reserve in doing it myself, as i have many times. but, in this case whats the problem.......the lad squeked it, it came over to him, he hasn't adopted it or fed it !!!!!! i think if evryone had a similar experience they may have a little more respect and understanding of their quarry just my opinion cheers sean
