A warm brick wrapped up (heat it in the oven or in front of the fire) and/or a radio playing quietly. Calms them down a treat.

Definatly worth a try -a warm comfortable pup will soon nod-off providing he is relaxed and has'nt wound himself up by fretting. He's probably crying either because it is a habit he has aquired in kennels where no one really bothers about the noise or because he really ,really wants to be with you at night .Try making a fuss of him as he goes to bed ,calm him down ,cuddle him and give him a lovely old jumper or similar that really smells of "You" before slipping out of the room without a fuss. Might not work but has to be worth a go .

Kongs are a fantastic invention if you buy the black one it takes longer for them to get the stuff out of it.I use soaked dog food and mash it up and sometimes add fish or what not through it and cram as much as i can in till its coming out the other end then freeze it and buy the time theyve gotten through it and licked it clean theyve forgot to get upset lol.Best things invented for sal xs.Mine are great my male used to howl when i was out and my bitch used to open her bowels all over the place and this has worked a treat never had any problems since and mine dont need it all the itme now i give them it when im away for a long times if i am only out for a few hours i dont bother now.He will get better eventually but the kong will really help till then
