hancock dogs

I have seen a few good Hancocks over the years and they were 5/8 Greyhound 3/8 collie. One was a merle and the other two dogs were black and white types. All these dogs took all quarry before the ban of course,Im not nocking Hancock dogs but If I was looking for a collie x I would ask around and try and buy a pup from someone who keeps this type and works them regularly through the seasons, rather than somebody who is breeding them just for the money as Hancock does.

but they work , lol, yer get yer greyhound which chases anyway give some brain,s like off a collie and yer have a lurcher , show it loads of rabbits and hety presto yer have good working lurcher , its not hard is it . dunna mater if he breeds them or you breed em , to get a good lurcher yer must have yer quarry for it to run , . cheers savageboy :yahoo:

:clapper:

Like I said mate I would rather give my money to a man who works his dogs and gets them out in the field working them rather than buy a pup whose parents have only seen the inside of a big shed.

fair play matey , he sells alot of pup,s so he must be doing somthing right he,s be breeding them for years, and people keep buying of him , and they work well enough, probley the best thing to do if yer have a hancock his breed it with something else , keep a pup ,and do yer own line from his ,

he,s only a bloke who puts collies to greyhounds , any one can do that , its just he does it on bigger scale as he sells so many you need to breeding all the time thats why he is licienced to keep 50 greyhounds, .

but personly to me i,ve just brought a pup of him and is very happy with it , and it will do what i need these days , just rabbits. :good:

are hancock dogs bred from proven workers NO ... are they kept in clean healthy pens NO ... are they correctly wormed as pups NO ... are they fed a nutritiouse balanced meal NO .... are sociolised in way shape or form NO ... are they introduced to other animals cars etc as they go through the learning period as a pup NO .... the list is endless ..... so why why why do you people keep singing his praises ??????????????

people sing is praises because they have a pup and they work, so may be yer should listen to the people who have these and work these..

when i picked mine up ,in his book was when it was wormed .

what is he supposed to do take all is pup,s out to the road so they can get use to car,s lol, since when do you buy a pup that as been out side the garden and got use to cars and people, apart from the house hold.

the learning period will start when you pick yer pup up , then when its had all the jab,s yer can take it out it will get use to car,s and so on. I think people think he should sell yer a ready made lurcher in the form of a pup, :11:

the fun is rearing yer pup.

THE BEST THING TO DO IS IF YER DON,T LIKE HANCOCK DON,T BUY A PUP , FORGET ABOUT THE BLOKE , DON,T READ THREADS, ON HIM , AS WHY WIND YER SELF UP WHEN YOU DON,T LIKE TO HERE PEOPLE WHO ARE HAPPY WITH IS PUP,S ITS QUITE SIMPLE , THE LEAVE THE THREADS TO THE PEOPLE WHO ENJOY WORKING THERE PUP THAT IS BRED BY DAVID HANCOCK.

I,ve got a wippet X collie.Hes a great dog trained really well it will be his first season. Built is confidence up by shooting rabbits with my air rifle letting him get them. But i find that people put there dogs on too soon and shatter the dogs confidence.

To be honest, if this is your dogs first full season then I would just concentrate on that. Think about a second dog next year.

I know it is darned tempting to go ahead and get a second dog but your first one should be the priority. You seem to be doing the right things in bringing it on slowly. He will be with you for a good few years so imagine how gutted you will be if you rush it now and he's never the dog he could be.

This first season is really important for the both of you. Regardless of what others will say don't dilute your efforts with a second dog before you've got this season under your belt.

Out of interest how tall is he at the shoulder?

All the best

Be careful having your tongue up that puppy farmers arse, you might catch parvo or something worse :11:

Socks - WELL SAID! :good::good:

matey i don,t even care for the bloke dunna no him personly dunna care if he shot him self. i just brought a pup of him , but befor i did i eased on loads of the hunting sites for people who had pup,s off him and worked them , and the feed back totaly out weighed the bad things about him , yes is place is a tip but it keeps getting passed by the council , and the rspca have not closed him down .

but if yer look at all the dogs he does not breed end up in the rescue centres , so what do yer say about them , the only thing is his are ear tattooed, so they no where they come from , and most of the lurchers in there are not hanncocks ,

i will not buy another pup of him as i will bred off mine when the time comes that she is getting on abit. and none of mine will go to rescue centres they will stay here and work and die here, she will only be bred if i want a pup .

sock,s you wrote

yes well taking them out the whole litter , in the car , wow lol, never heard of that , you must be unique matey , top man ,

on all the other things they get that here , .

but why is there so many lurcher,s in rescue centres that he as not bred so what went wrong.

the answer is the caring public who have these dogs , bred by people like yer selves , which is reared and well looked after ,then they go to homes end up in rescue . or can you blame hancock for that as well even though they are not bred by him.

and me head is not up is arse, i ,ve just brought a pup . its quite simple if i dunna here is name again does not bother me . i only stick up for the people who have is pup,s and are happy with them . :yahoo:

so these dogs that he has bred that end up in rescue centres do you think that mr hancock takes them back and rehomes them then? does he f**k! they might as well Not have a tattoo in there ear because he doesnt give a toss once the money has entered his pocket. ask anyone in lurcher rescues and they will tell you they abhor the sight of a DH ear tattoo  the council and rspca pass him because he meets the minimum requirements, there are far better places than his place but theres also a lot worse so he manages to keep getting his license renewed.

did you know what happens to the pups he breeds that no one wants? if no one wants to buy them when they get past a certain age he kills them. does that strike you as the actions of someone who is breeding good quality working dogs? if the pups were any good he wouldnt have to advertise them every week of the year in the hope that someone will buy them. once they get past that age where no one wants them, he kills them and breeds some more and it goes on.

he tries to sell to the pet and agility market now cos the working dog folk have wised up!

i luv me pup it gets looked after well and exercised well , and it will catch rabbits . that is all i need.

i only brought one pup, and when another one is need i,ll breed off me bitch. . people will alway moan about hancock. but who cares about him. i just brought a pup, if i had brought a pup of some one else it will be the same well looked after fed exerlent exercised just the same and it will catch rabbits ,

i praise the way my pup is growing up she is looking well i,m very happy with her , she does not have to be a world beater she only needs to catch rabbits . :good:

Please can we talk about somethinge other than just slinging insults back and forth about him. If you are new to the game, you can go to him and get a pup and know the breeding. When you go there you can see he is a breeder and nothing more. If you don't like it DON'T buy one.

HOW HARD CAN IT BE.

The original question was more about what the cross was suitable for not lets mouth off about so and so.

Some people like him

Some people don't

Can I ask what is all this "yer" this and "yer" that.

Reading the sentences its obvious that the word you want to use is "you"

both "you" and "yer" start with a "Y" and have three letters in total, whats so hard about using "ou" instead of "er"

what yer on about :11: is there a problem how i talk , or type , , don,t let it worry yer . it dunna me :11:

plus its probley just me beign idol as the letter,s are close so yer is closer than you :good:

You only need it to catch rabbits? How about :-

bringing the said rabbits back to you

jump

recall

stock breaking

sit & stay

???

are close so yer is closer than you :good:

The top row on keyboards is as follows

Q W E R T Y U I O P

As you can see, only 1/2" (depending on the size of your keys) difference

So what your saying is that you want your pup(s) (??) to catch rabbits before they can retrieve properly?

I for one do not encourage my pup to chase rabbits, as for starters shes too young and she isnt retrieving perfect yet, if she happens to run after one I do not stop her, obvious reasons.

You also Will teach her sit & stay lateron in life? This is much easier done when they are young. Same can be said for stock breaking, and if worse comes to worse the pup is not going to be able to inflict as much damage as when it would - fully grown.
