Clearly another "zoo" attempting to get some free advertising with a hair brained, cruel circus idea.

I worked at a Cheetah breeding and research project in South Africa, as already stated at the start of the thread, Male cheetah's have no input into the raising of the cubs. If this completely unfit and imprinted male was put with cubs he'd no doubt kill them. Equally whilst hunting cheetahs stalk their prey to within a few feet, they are unable to maintain the speed levels they can reach for any length of time, so therefore need to get as close as possible . . . . . cubs are taught by the female to stalk prey . . . the sprint and kill is an in built instinct, and easy once they are close enough.

The plus side is cheetahs are very easy to train and imprint on humans, once they get over 12 weeks. They act very much like dogs and will happily follow you around, i had a litter of 5 cubs from 3 weeks and the 3 survivors were as tame as my dogs, they used to ride in the back of my pick up and sleep in my hut . . . . . that said i wouldn't have liked to try and take their catches of them!

Bloody hell, and you lot call yourselves hunters. Don't you know that the natural prey of a cheetah are not rabbits. Because of the heat in Africa their natural pray a vanilla ice cream cones. Before you type on a serious subject like this, educate yourself a little bit for Christ sake.

This is so annoying. I start a thread about an 8 stone cheetah chasing rabbits in Essex and get about 6 responses. Lurchergrrl kicks off and the whole effing forum lights up and goes tilt. NOT FAIR. It's gonna come down to me, the big cat, and me .243. Well no. At this rate I'll have to pick off Lurchergrll before she sets her pussy on me.

I should be so lucky. At least I'd die with a smile on me face!

Cool job! So... as a matter of interest (and bearing in mind the "big cats wild in Britain" threads that have popped up recently), if this cheetah decided it wanted a bit more exercise one day, would the 6-and-a-half foot fence mentioned in the article get in his way? I'm pretty sure I've seen photos of cheetahs up trees and that...

These noble speedsters are quickly becoming endagered, although as a child I was always told Cheetahs never prosper.................

That's a good question Fab .... pretty sure that fence wouldn't keep him in if he wanted to go for his jollies in the countryside. Crikey just imagine it - every chav with a bullcross within 500 miles would decend on Essex in their shell suits.

Think I'd buy a ticket to watch it
