rjimmer 4
A distant relation died last month. She had been paying into an insurance policy that was supposed to pay for her funeral. After giving AXA Sun Life £4.50 a month for over 22 years, they are going to pay out just £556.00. The funeral cost £2,900+! I don't suppose they expected a 73-year-old to live another 22 years in 1986. BEWARE!
Malt 379
That's a joke.
rjimmer 4
That's a joke. No, it's not. £1224 paid in and £556 to be paid out.

I now what you meant mate but couldn't resist the pun. My warped sense of humour! Brings the topic back to the top to warn others, as well.
rjimmer 4
Seems like they should have stopped taking the premiums after 36 months, but kept taking them for the next 19+ years.
Waz 4,293
Try speaking to the financial ombudsman, very easy folk to talk to, im sure theyve got a special section to do with policies mis-sold.
rjimmer 4
Although I've never found the CAB of much help, I am going to accompany the dead person's next of kin to an arranged interview with them later in the month.
J Darcy 5,871
Just another example of how the Rip-Off insurance merchants make their living. Let us hope that AXA gets some bad publicity out of this....

Waz 4,293
AXA have got a good reputation IMO, hope this gets resolved for the next of kin, just a shame that the policy holder didnt get the full benefit as they intended.
