stealthy1 3,964 Posted July 23, 2009 Report Share Posted July 23, 2009 Now then airgunners, there's an old boy who lives up the road from me who always stops to talk, lives on our street, you know the sort, he has an allotment and is always leaving me veg and fruit at the front gate, well this year the lotties have been plagued by rabbits, I'd been down there before and knocked down all the little scurries, but the older rabbits were a little wise to the game, some thing to do with the lottie holders having been at war with the veg robbers for nearly 40 years or more I was invited to go to one of the lottie meetings to meet the some of the holders, to be honest I did'nt want to go really, but being the sort that I am I went anyway, after a cup of tea and biscuits they asked me if I wanted a key so I could become the official bunny basher on the team, my reward was fresh veg as it came into season so how could I turn the job down, I'm allowed to snare, ferret and trap, and only shoot when there's no one around, all I have to do is let the committee know before hand what I'm doing just incase it infringes any bylaws, so after the meeting one of the holders said to me, come and start on my plot first, there's some big'uns on my plot so I drove up to his plot, I'm not lazy, its just easier to turn around at the top When we jumped out of the car I could see these nice rabbits he was on about, sat just in front of the chain link fencing, cheeky little buggers the old boy chuntered, are you going to shoot them then lad he said, I had to smile at the comment, being as I'm 47, but then I suppose I am a lad compared to him So out came the HW100T, bloody hell lad, where did you get that gun, from the SAS he asked, I said that guns had moved on since he had his last one, he asked me if the gun fired corks as well as pellet, because his last gun could, I just burst out laughing So I lined up the first bunny on the left and let it have a superdome in the lug hole whack! Oh dear! the old boy said, I think the pellets stuck in the barrel, I asked him what he meant, he replied, it did'nt go pop, said that his old gun would go pop, or the pellet was stuck in the barrel I explained that modern guns no longer went pop, they went click And took him to pick up the rabbit, to say he was impressed was an understatement, bugger me he said So I walked back to the car to put the gun away, aye'up lad there's another one come out, growled the old boy, so I quickly whacked that as well, I could tell by the smile on his face that he was impressed Anyway, the old boy wandered off home while I sat on the edge of my boot daring another cheeky bunnie to pop its head out, and stuff me if one did'nt, whack! went number 3, I sat there in the sun grabbing a few rays when number 4 made an appearance, and down it went I have to say it was peaceful down on these allotments, and I could see the attraction for the old duffers that inhabit them, I was about to pack up when bunny number 5 lolloped out, whack! and another bit the dust, and with 5 in the boot I packed up, but not before I showed the lottie boys my haul, and picked up some tates Keep at them! stealthy 1 Quote Link to post
