Bryan 1,363
The Ortovox terrier location system has been around since 1989, but with a bit of a push they've agreed to make changes to their S1 Transiever, to make it digging specific. http://en.ortovox.com/transceiver/s1.html So far it'll be calibrated to the transmitter 1.0 is 1 meter It will measure to 0.05 making it super pin point. I'm hoping it'll be no more expensive than what we have now. If anyones has any thoughts on any other essentials lets us know. Bryan Quote Link to post

Hepher 86
A 1/2 DECENT PROTECTIVE CASE WOULD BE A DECENT EXTRA TO BE ABLE TO PURCHASE, SOMETHING LIKE THE TIGHT FITTING CASES YOU GET FOR MOBILE PHONES, EVEN AFTER CLEANING I'VE FOUND THAT DUST AND GRIT MAKES ANY MOVING SWITCHES VERY STIFF, A BELT CLIP COULD ALSO BE A GOOD ADDITION, WAZ I FIND A PIECE OF INSULATING TAPE OVER THE SPEAKER DULLS THE NOISE AND MAKES IT LESS IRRITATING, SAYING THAT I USE THE ORTOVOX AND NOT THE B&F. Is that for the handheld bit or the collar part mate? Collar part is easy to sort, put it in a condom before you put it in the collar pouch, then when you've finished just rip it off and everything is nice and clean. As we all know, condoms rip easily, they must do judging by the amount of stupid kids on here!!!!!! It won't be long though before Bill Oddie and his crew start saying there is a huge increase in bestiality, they'll have the used condoms found near earths as proof ........... Quote Link to post

Bryan 1,363
FOR THE HANDHELD BOX S.S. AS SAID EARLIER ABOUT ADDING SWITCHES IMO MORE MOVING PARTS MEANS MORE THAT CAN NEED REPAIRED. JMO. There will be no moving switches, just sealed buttons. It'll have a screen which will show the positions of up to 4 dogs at one time. The icons on the screen will move in real time shwoing the dogs movement, left to right towards or away from you. You'll be able to cancel(ignore) collars on dogs not to ground. thanks for the very kind offer jessdale Quote Link to post

The analoge gear is spot on accuracy wise( as the deben mk 1 showed) but most people now want numbers on a screen. and i can't beat yours on price Quote Link to post

Hepher 86
JUST A THOUGHT BRYAN BUT HAVING THE CAPABILITIES TO LOCATE 4 DOGS IS THAT REALLY NECCESSARY IF THEY ARE SPECING IT PRIMARILY FOR LOCATING A TERRIER TO GROUND? IMPROVEMENTS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME FOR ANY PIECE OF KIT BUT SOMETIMES THINGS CAN GET ADDED THAT THERE'S NO REAL NEED FOR AND THIS ALSO ADDS TO PRICE, SOMETIMES WE CAN BE BLINDED BY THE OLD SALES PLOY THAT THIS BOX DOES EVERYTHING. I'M NOT WHINGING ABOUT MONEY MY DOGS ARE WORTH PAYING OUT FOR THE BEST EQUIPMENT AVAILABLE IF IT MEANS THEY HAVE A BETTER CHANCE OF COMMING HOME SAFE AND WELL. AS LONG AS IT PINPOINTS THE DOG THAT'S WHAT COUNTS. Edited July 7, 2009 by Hepher Quote Link to post

AS LONG AS IT PINPOINTS THE DOG THAT'S WHAT COUNTS. The big market for the germans and most of Europe has and always will be pig hunting with terriers and jadgs. Done with many dogs and the primary aim of driving pigs, not digging. For them, in chest high briars, thick cover etc. it'l be handy and where multiple dogs get to ground on those days. They have that in the S1 people box anyway so it's a software rather than hardware cost. They are taking the transmit function out of it so it should help with costs too Bryan Quote Link to post
dog fox 16
the pulse box and pieps box both have the multi burials features ,which i use .if you have 2 dogs collared up up stand over first dog and it will say mark on the screen ,when the second dog is located after being entered into a earth it will do the same ,once you locate the dog and screen says mark thats bang on the dog ,and is abit better than just reading the numbers which it doe,s if only one collar is used ,plus it save,s on keep turning collars on and off and changing from dog to dog ,dont think many people have picked up on this so i thought i,d give it a mention ,dont, no if the orto doe,s it but im sure someone will test it :)the pieps marks by displaying a flag forgot to say Edited July 7, 2009 by dog fox Quote Link to post
