Guest Scuba1
I could not sleep last night because I had too much tea and so I was pondering again and came up with this idea. A mobile weather station. For this mobile weather station you will need a bit of string and a rock. Tie the string to the rock and then attach it to something that will let the rock swing freely. For demonstration purposes I have attached it to the moderator of my gun, so I can spot any sudden changes in the weather at a glance. Here are a few tips on how to read this weather station. 1: Rock warm and dry = Sunny day 2: Rock swings from side to side = windy 3: Rock is wet on top = rain 4: Rock is white on top = Snow 5: Rock is wet all round = heavy rain 6: rock is still = no wind 7: rock gone = tornado 8: Can't see rock = foggy You can make as many of these weather stations as you like and place them in different places so as to keep you informed of local weather changes as well. However, if you install them in public places such as bus stops etc. You can get false readings as far as tornado fronts go and that can be confusing at times. Here are some pictures of one I took this morning and as you can see, it was sunny and there was no wind. These weather stations are better than the BBC weather report as they predicted thunder storms. If you need any help in making these, feel free to PM me and I’ll talk you through the process of making one, that you can then copy as many times as you want. ATB Michael Edit: I forgot to mention, If you live in the London area, I do sell these in kit form or if you are not that good with all things DIY, ready made as well. Guest Scuba1
cant see rock = foggy I have added that one. You see this is only a prototype and I have only made it today and have not had the time for a lot of field tests. Hang on a minute.....how did you know that???? Do you have one of these as well then?? If so, can we exchange some of our findings to speed up the development of this weather station? ATB Michael
SEAN3513 7
i have several ........but they are clearly not as far developed as yours.....because they are not attached to string......thats genius !!!!!!! cheers sean

They're always one step ahead when it comes to any feat of engineering.

You are so well organised Michael such a pity i live way up here where the weather and temperatures are different do you think it would be universal and work just the same ? great invention

SEAN3513 7
depending on the size of the stone......yes!!! as said ....yours is further developed than mine.........but i may steal your idea before you get the patent. cheers sean
Guest Scuba1
Don't worry its not stealing ... consider it a kind of freeware as I like to help out fellow hunters in these dire times, with the credit crunch and all that looming above our heads, its nice to improve the quality of life for others and share ideas that make life just that little bit more comfortable. stealthy1 3,964
If you place a couple of those stations on moon light valley, you may never be beaten by a cross wind again Davey
Guest Scuba1
If you place a couple of those stations on moon light valley, you may never be beaten by a cross wind again Davey Not on the THL weekend as there will be a few blokes running around with bits of string hanging out of their backsides. I am not having my weather stations misused like that. ATB Michael
