I spent a large part of the day yesterday, evicting/splatting a good number of these turf munching little b*****ds:

As I sat on the throne for the last 'movement' of the night before bed, :icon_redface: I was greeted with a surprise!

Now, since I'm now married with kids, the wife & I have had to stop being so promiscuous about the house, any time, any place, so if I'm not allowed, these pair certainly aren't:

Needless to say, the happy couple were stopped in their tracks, there's no way I'm going to allow my bathroom to become a crane fly knocking shop! :nono::laugh::thumbs:

Rolfe beat me to it then ... I was going to equire as to your need for having the camera with you during your 'movement' but then decided I didn't really need to know

So that's what those things are called. Why are they bad?

I went back for the camera, I'm not into taking photos of my stools or anything! :clapper::laugh:

They lay their eggs in the turf, and the grubs (leatherjackets) then weaken the turf by eating the root structure, which can lead to bald patches. Not good on a cricket pitch or racecourse.

So THAT'S what they look like! I used to do some grounds maintenance where I lived and we had a pretty bad grub problem. I had to contact several places for quotes and methods of treating them. Never did find out what they would look like when matured tho.

Very interesting that.
