stealthy1 3,964
YO! airgunners, had a wonder on some pasture for a change today, on arival there was nothing really to see, nothing running for the cover of the hedges, nearly turned round and went some were else, but any way, thought I'd give it a hour and see what popped out, got sat down in a nice shady spot under an old hawthorn bush which I think was planted a long time ago by the look of the thing, after 45 minutes of sitting about nothing had happened, so I went prone, purely for lazy reasons , I was just about to move some were else when I felt some thing tapping on my leg, when I turned around to see what it was, I was surprised to see a baby rabbit thumping with his back legs to warn other rabbits where I was, I went to grab him but he was to quick and shot off, so I thought, there must be more rabbits here, even if its only the cheeky wee thumper rabbits dad . so consentration restored I waited, rabbits started to appear along the hedge, but I think the rabbits were wise to the position I was using, because they just would not come with in range, every time I crawled towards them they all did one back under the hedge, just when I was ready to pack up, one popped out in front of me, so a quick point and squeeze, and bunnie number one was chalked up on the score card, paunched and legged this one, picked up the gun to move elsewere, when a little'un poked its head out, whack! and its on its back doing some bunnie aerobics, left it there to see if one of his buddies would come to see where he was, sure enough, another little'un popped out, whack! chalk me up another , three on the score card, so I thought I'd sit and have a half hour more on this spot, 45 minutes later another adult hopped out, centerd it with the cross hairs, whack! add me another, so todays lesson was, patience pays dividends, total of four, not broke any records, but some times the hardest evenings are the most rewarding, next time I shoot this piece of land I'm doing it from the other side, just got to catch it when the wind is in the right direction, I also think this bit of land has its fair share of poachers, so the rabbits may be a little wise, any way, see what happens when the wind changes, sat and watched the sun go down, then packed up and went home, keep at them lads. stealthy. 1 Quote Link to post
