Rolfe 2
The phone rang at 7.15 am......."Can you come and do a wasp nest for me.......it's in the garage and i can't get near me freezer". 1st job booked in. I just had time to check some rabbit cages on the golf course that i had placed in amongst the shrubs in the flower beds....no rabbits this time.......just a young blackbird that i released. Deadly catching places these, no bait required........the rabbits just use the gaps as run throughs.......so i place cages to intercept them. Mobile phone goes off.......It's the old guy in the village........can you come and shoot a squirrel for me. I sold him an Elgeeco trap and he rings me when he has a catch...for a fiver a time of course. Home to get air-rifle then. That job done........its off to check a few mole traps on the football pitches.........two traps........two moles.......100% catch rate then. Right.......time for the wasp nest in the garage.......it was a nice one too......bit bigger than a grapefruit.......but boy did the little hot arsed buggers get upset......client had stood watching me.......but was gone like a rat up a drain pipe when the action started. Next.........it was off to the farm shop to try and catch a rat that had taken up residence under the freezer cabinet...this bugger will not eat the rodenticide ........so it's a cage trap, break-back traps........and a Fenn in a tunnel....cunning bugger this one is .........anyway....all in a mornings work....... Bit of a break for lunch, then clean up and dust off a few Imbras ready for a rabbit trapping job later on...........Happy Days. ;) Quote Link to post

ellir0305 9
much as you have to do a lot of crap jobs as well and the pay leaves a lot to be desired i would love to do your job. but apparently i have to train to be an engineer and go to uni because i have potential. i wish parents would realise that potential means nothing if your not happy. depressive rant over good work Rolfe Quote Link to post

You can still do your pest control as a hobby..........but if you get the chance to go to uni........then you must take it. The pay will be better when your qualified thats for sure. Rolfe. It will be the best years of your life! Ive literally just finished my degree, graduate next month, and i dont want to stop beeing a student, lol. Once you've got a degree behind you think of it as a solid foundation for your future, even if you dont want to follow it up as an engineer, its a good qualification. You can then play around more seriously with the idea of becoming a pester and if it fails you will have a bloody good qualification to fall back on. You know it makes sense, lol. Back to the thread, top stuff rolfe. Its really nice these threads you put up, an insight into the job.................... sure you do it just to make us all jealous ya b*****d, Quote Link to post
