Just a quick question, I can't afford courses or distance travelling, so how is the best way to learn to snare, properly? Any sensible advice would be appreciated, thank very much! :icon_redface:

Like anything else, the best way is to be shown by someone who know's what they are doing. But if you cant afford then your next best bet is to speak to a snaring master or look back through this snaring section for some tips and advice

I agree with John b, I got one of woodga's dvd's and that was a great help, I am newish to the snaring job but I sort of know what I am doing now, just waiting to meet up with someone who can show me the ropes a bit better. But deffinately buy one of woodga's dvd's.

:) If i were you I'd get out in thew field and familiarise yourself withthe runs of the aniumals which you intend to snare. You need to appreciate that a snare must (for rabbits) be set so that it is in the postion where the rabbit has landed from its hop and has extended its head forwards, it is at this point where it hopefully puts it head through the noose. If things go right the rabbit will take off for its next hop and break its neck as it jumps up with the wire around its neck. Be patient and observant. Mkae sure the snare its peg and tealer have been left in the soil for some time and dont shine or smell artificial.simple simon
