hi a lads/lass these are my 1st working dogs so looking for advice.

i got 2 4month old whippet x grey collie whippet, at first the training was going well, they would come back when you called but now they starting to ignore me, not all time just evry so often.

also they will not retrive a single thing, i might get some thing once in a while, and when we out walkin they fine on the lead but when it comes to rabbit holes they not interested, me 5 year old boxer seems more interested in then they do. any ideas/help/advice, on :-

* improving they recall to 100%

* getting them to retreive

* getin then interested.

was starting to think about buying and mature adult lurcher to work next to them to show them the way.

cheers

Best advice I can give you is to get rid of one and concentrate totally on the other: rearing and training 2 pups together is bound to drive you nuts in no time as the pups will bond with eachother, follow eachother etc instead of listening to you.

If you do keep both then you need to take them out separately and on their own to train and get used to stuff in the field.

Plus, at only 4 months old you should be concentrating on training and playing with the pup away from scent and live game: they'll just be teething now too, which makes some pups ultra disobedient: they're getting to the age where they have more confidence and want to go and do their own thing. Two pups together just egg eachother on to do what they want and not what you want.

i have to bullx pups 7 month old and they havent bin out in the field yet i beleave in getting young dogs confident and nice weight i like to have fat pups because when there old enough to be walked it will come off them, at 4 months just playing in the back garden is enough but when i do start takeing the dogs out i will be takeing them seperately just to stop all the hassle. well this is what i do anyway everyone has there own opinions, but iv seen your pups they look like they will be handy for lamping, what do you think of the pup i got D T atb
