Same here leave well alone till they start crawling out the nest box when your putting the jills food in roughly three weeks then i start putting a half rabbit in the nest box for them and that seems to satisify them and they dont crawl out so much but then they start crapping in the nest box and youv'e got to clean that out .

thanks guys will it be a problem feeding the jills while ive gt a cage that opens from the top?

thanks again liam

I once lost a jill through a top openeing cage, i was showing someone the kits which were ready to leave the mother , and as i closed the lid she jumped up over the bedding divider . i didnt hear her make a sound and when i went back to check later she was squashed over the diveder , broke my heart the thought that i had left her like that for a couple of hours , cost me a fortune in vets bills but she died the next day best little jill i ever had .

Simple answer with a top opening hutch is run 6/8 inches of wire round the top of the inside of the hutch i do this when ive got anybody looking after my ferrets as they cant climb over it and fall back inside the cage ,It must happen more than folk let on as ive had two jills from differnt guys and they have been docked by the lids slaming down on top opening hutches
