Say you put "pictureA.jpg" up, then find some cheeky fecker has linked it into their website or a forum without permission. You'd put (gay?) porn "pictureB" up, but with the same name as the original picture a on your web space. In other words, the "stolen" photo being linked to now shows up as a nasty image on the other person's site instead of the original nicked one. Looking at the link you posted, that site had indeed been stealing bandwidth The photo's linked to (actually belongs to) http://www.dogresources.com/images/putnam/cribandrosa.gif - clearly not belonging to the person who is trying to use the photo on that website (theamericanbulldog.i12.com).
