The town land of Man O War just outside Keady Co Armagh , opposite beautiful Clea lake was the venue for the Man O War Dog Show/Race Day and Digging Competition last Sunday 16th June 13. A tributary of the River Callan, Clea lake flows radiantly along the winding roads which lead us to this stunning part of Northern Ireland and the venue for this superb family day out. Please note that the terrier, whippet and lurcher events at the IRISH GAME FAIR Shanes Castle are now being organised and run by the Bannside Sporting Dog & Gun Club assisted by the NILRC plus independent line judges. We thank the Glenbank Working Dog Club for their assistance over the past couple of years but felt that we wanted to involve a club that would put more of the proceeds back into the terrier, whippet and lurcher community and the sport. Dont forget This Sunday Farney Harriers 2nd Annual Dog Show and Race Day Sunday 9th June 13 Farney Harriers 2nd Annual Dog Show, Race Day, and Family day out, will take place this : Sunday 9th June in Dundalk Co. Louth . The venue will be at the same place as last year at Junction 18 just of the M1 motorway. There will be the usual classes for Terriers, Lurchers, Whippets, Hounds, Gundogs and Pets. Started off from home earley last Sunday morning the 9th June. Met up with a few friends along the way,stopped off at Mc Donalds in Newry for breakfast and continued on our journey to the lady on our Sat Nav informed us we were coming the end of the motorway. As we approached our destination, deep in the roaming Dundalk countryside, there nestled in the bed of the beautiful Cooley Mountains was the venue for the 2nd annual Farney Harriers Dog show and Race day. A sad note to everyone to advise them that our dear friend, Philip Lawton, Co Director of the Birr Fair and Arena Director of both Northern & Southern Fairs passed away on Friday. Philip extended his wide sporting interests to terriers, lurchers and especially whippets over the last couple of years but unfortunately he won't now have the whippet he often talked about acquiring. Philip supported me in extending the prize fund for the terrier, whippet and lurcher events and last year I rather 'conned' him into getting involved in the Director's Challenge for Novice Lurchers. Barrontop Fun Farm are hosting a Lurcher,Terrier and Whippet Dog Show and Raceday on Saturday the 15th June 2013 . All the usual classes, lovely Trophys, and Cash Prizes for each of the Overall winners. A donation will be made to the Foyle Hospice from the proceeds of this show. Entry Fee will be £4 and £2 to show or race your dog. Barrontop is one of the finest venues for dog shows in Northern Ireland, and has proved itself to be just this in the past.So put this date in your show diary, and come along and enjoy a day out at Barrontop with all the fun of the fair with dogs and family in tow.
