  2. A great photo by Derek Laverty of the dogs approaching the finishing line in the Master McGrath final. Look at the back legs of Joey the winner - he was literally flying at the finish to pip Fiona's dog.
  3. One of my objectives in running fairs was to provide a meeting place for like minded people - in short a similar objective to this forum. I am all for free speech but as the moderators have said on here there should be much more that unites us rather than divides us. I regret to say that any animal rights person 'listening in' would be delighted by the friction generated whereas arranging through the forum to meet up and discuss could be a better way to resolve differences of opinions. 'Hands up' - I too have posted more heated comments than I should have! In the past when people and I have me
  4. Has anyone any info on how the kilworth harrier show went today? I couldn't make it.
  5. Congratulations to Pat McGrath from Carlow who won the Master McGrath Challenge with his dog Joey. 7. Shane's Castle is a ruined Castle near Randalstown in Co Antrim, Northern Ireland. The castle is on the north-east shores of Lough Neagh, and covers some 2,600 acres along its magnificent homeland shores . This was the picturesque setting for the Press breakfast to Celebrate and Launch the 52nd Irish Game Fair and Flavour Fine Food Festival at this renowned Castle. The theme for this years reception was the Rabbit-Pet, Pest, Sporting Quarry and Fine Food. As the guests arrived, Award winning Chef Emmett Mc Court cooked some Fine Rabbit dishes with fine Armagh cider on his open hearth, W

  11. Delighted to say that interest in the combined Ballywalter & Shanes Castle Fairs has really continued to build towards our objective of delivering the largest Irish game fair ever. It looks as if we will have the best international competition yet for the Master McGrath and All Ireland Terrier, Whippet and Lurcher Championship racing and showing. As I said in an earlier post we will have three arenas operating : The Main Arena ; the Living History Arena at the Castle and the 'Countrysports Arena' - this new arena will be a long thin arena - long enough for any of the 'acts'/events we
  12. As the rain pelted on our window pain on Sunday morning, it could not dampen our spirits, or our intention to be at the Sporting Whippet Club NI 3rd Dog Show and Race day of the year. The Dog Chorus rang out loud and clear as the trailer came out of the garage, making us humans very much aware,it was the Whippets day out at Dunsilly Co Antrim. There was a good turn out, despite the bad weather. The show ring was in immaculate condition, This we have to be very thankful to Victor Mc Donald, owner of Dunsilly Kennells and Race track. 18. It is unfortunate that after quite a few terrier, whippet and lurcher events we get allegations of cheating, unfair judging, poor line judging decision, breeding of dogs etc. To make sure the terrier, lurcher and whippet events at the Game Fair at Shanes Castle are run as fairly as possible- as I indicated in an earlier post - anyone can make an objection on the basis of making it a formal written objection and lodging £40 with me or at HQ. The objection will be investigated by a committee that I will put together with a member of the organising club, myself and an independent person

  22. Woke up last Saturday morning 8th June 13 to the sound of the dawn chorus reminding me the day for the North Down Lurcher & Terrier Club (Working Dog Show) Charity Event had finally arrived. It was time for us to get our feet out on the floor, dogs in trailer, and head for Movilla Road, Newtownards Co Down.
