Yeah could be - he says they murdered his maize last season and they are doing his head in - his Mrs wants some for pies too. Never tried snaring before - suppose I could ask and if I get their number down I would get to keep the perm - don't want to lose it because its very mixed with loads to go at species wise. Looks like Youtube time then

Folks, Got a new permission and the farmer states the bunnies need dealing with badly. He says no-one's touched them for years and from what I can tell in the few walk-ups I have done he ain't wrong. He also states no-one has thrown hand grenades at them - sorry I mean used a shotgun on them. On my other shoots I can spot, stalk and slot no probs. Problem I have is these ones either see me before I see them or they sit still while I stalk them and shoot off before I get within range. Now I do know how to stalk - I am also a river dry fly fisherman - so what's going on? Couple of questi

Walter Lgu Vs Hw 77 /97
clabedoo replied to Martin Hinchliffe's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Loved my HW 97k - but was too heavy for my puny left arm - two titanium plates and 16 screws - my arm not the gun - the walther does look cool though and if it shoots good straight out of the box, what's not to like? As long as you like it and it does what you got it for crack on. As above the reliability and longevity are key - the 97 has been going years and the originals still shoot like new. I suppose though anything that's well looked after will keep on performing. However the trigger on the 97 rocks -

Yes certainly open the front cover read until the back page - its all bollocks

I got a newsflash for you mate....they are all bollocks.... you'll only ever read what the powers that be allow you to read, until its too late to matter True true true - now you don't sound like a mail reader but it seems in the whingeing section - sorry general discussion area - every other post has a link to the Mail and is quickly followed by reams of ritcheous indignation . Just saying.
-
I can't help but notice loads of you seem to get your "news" from the Mail either paper or online. Can I just make a point here please; It's All Bollocks. Ask anyone who has been the subject of one of their stories (yes I do know what its like) - 'cos that's exactly what they are - made up fairy tales to get people grinding on each other. Please please find somewhere else to get your news from, better still find lots of places to get it from but the last and I mean the very last place you should accept as telling you how it is is The Mail. Discuss;

I almost went for the Air Arms myself but have a duff left arm so it was bit heavy and the filling probe was quite a fiddle. It had a great feel to it though but in the end the Ultra was lighter and just "sat" right for me. Low shot count unregged is an issue too - I believe you can stick a Scorpion bottle on though to raise this a little - maybe a Scorpion then - did'nt try one myself. As said above a decent gun shop will let you have a play but things such as weight and filling and so forth need to be considerations too. As for calibre - whoops! nearly got involved but managed to stop m

See now you've all got me drooling again - just found a HW97 Chromed Ltd Ed for £250-00 somewhere else and I really really want it

Another tuppence worth; If someones only experience of shooting is/will be with air weapons then I would suggest a springer first. You will have to learn the principles of shooting well to be effective and these skills can transfer to a PCP should you require it. I am not sure it would work so easy the other way round. The recommendation for young shots starting out is to use a PCP as its easier to shoot and so they are likely to hit what they are aiming for more often and thereby continue in the sport and I can't really argue with that. But if they then go home and pester mum for a gun a

I am no expert but the reviews from people who own one on that gun make it sound like a good deal. Especially if you get Tony at Sandwell to fettle it.

I agree some cops leave a lot to be desired, so do some antis and so do some shooters - as I said before people are people and I always try and educate where possible. Whether it be cops who work for me, people who phone in to complain or people I meet while shooting. Its a mad mad mad mad mad mad mad mad world (I think that's the right amount of mads). The person having a pop for someone shooting bunnies one week could well be on a protest to stop fracking on another shooters perm the next. Nothing is cut and dried. There are vested interests, big business, a sense of right and wrong and

Here is a smiler story for you. A part of one of my perms is accessed via a remote layby and footpath - so I park and walk 50 feet to access the land through a gate. I returned to the car one evening with a few coneys and was surprised to find a group of younger people in the layby. I was fully legal - gun in case, unloaded etc One of the group, a young lady and driver of the VW Golf that was illegally parked on the verge, decided to berate me for killing rabbits and carrying a gun in public. I allowed her to shout and scream at me for a bit and watched as the lads thought they better look

Yep grey as it gets - cops are only human and as per my previous - if they attend as a result of a complaint and are greeted by someone who is responsible in their manner and actions, as above correct storage etc etc then I would hope that the "correct" outcome would be forthcoming. Phsycology plays a big part to whit first impressions go a long way. I generally liken cops to referees, get under their skin and who knows what could happen not excusing it just saying we can take that part out of the equation. For every "genuine" shooter who is zeroing, they (we) probably get 3 or 4 reports (a

How do you milk them? -
Moral here I think, we have no friends other than other shooters. Yes exactly and we should stick together. I am happy to offer advice wherever I can but yes as you say the cows will be well back in the barn before we can ever cover everything.

I think you make very salient points. However, I still maintain we should not just roll over. As for injunctions, thats civil, and the cost is around £1000 for starters. If anyone takes one out they have to prove their case. I reiterate, the law is actually on the shooters side. Nothing wrong with being assertive, and polite, but assertive. "They", ie antis, will chip away year after year. Look at Scotland, it is going to happen. The police themselves are dreading regulation there, it is going to be impossible to enforce. Stay polite yes, however do not be a doormat. Yes civil injunction

A mate of mine - who has a big garden - has a CCTV system (cheap straight onto an overwritten SD Card) set up so when he zeros he can evidence his lawful behavior. Wish my garden was big enough. He has had one visit from colleagues as a result of a complaint - he wont get any more visits I would suggest. Something that has to be remembered amongst this is that an Anti-social Behaviour Order is always an option as is a civil injunction. Do you really need all that hassle even if you defend it successfully? Previous posts above got it spot on - talk to the neighbhours and educate them - pro-

It can be a grey area as you say but each Chief Officer of each policing area has their own policies. Sorry yes I cant give the specifics. Lets us assume that a complaint of violence has been made against you - however spurious - and the police turn up. For arguments sake lets say they needed to locate certain pieces of evidence that would prove or disprove your involvement in the offence in question. While looking for that evidence they also have the power to seize any items that they suspect may constitute an offence. Just one example of the suspicion stated could be wear marks on the weapo

You have to remember it is the user/owner/keeper's responsibility to ensure that the weapon does not fire over the legal 12ft/lb with ANY commercially available ammunition. If as some do you cast your own ammo than the weapon may also be tested with that too. If you take your gun in for testing and its over then it will be adjusted and not taken off you. You will see countless videos of shooters chronoing(testing) their gun and having to re-adjust it down. No-one locates them and confiscates their gun or indeed prosecutes them. Even though the minute they pull the trigger it is a technical b

As above- Hock'em 'n' hang'em. Once their food supply is cut off they are pretty quick to leave and try and find another.
