  4. Hi all, im thinking about treating myself to a new knife for animal preparation and general outdoors activities. Ive got a buck 3.5 inch folding blade at the minute and it just doesent cut it (haha no pun intended). The blade on my buck doesent hold a edge too well and dulls quickly. Im after something under £100, as I know hundreds can be spent on a knife. Not bothered if its fixed or folding as its used on private land so size isent a issue ether, but dont want/need a bowie.I do like swedish knifes as they are known for good blades. What have you got, and what do you recommend? chee
  5. you can get a replacement stud for the front off ebay or your local gun shop. The rear will need drilling. What i did was put a strip of masking tape down the underside of the stock/butt. Gently run something down the ridge to mark the tape, hi lighting the high spot, i used the a pencil (dont use it to draw a line, use the centre of the pencil, holding one end of the pencil in each hand). measure about 2-2.5 inch from the end of the wood so not to hit the butt plate screws when drilling. Mark this spot and use a centre punch, use sharp/new drill bit i think it was a 4.5mm, take your time and
  6. Can I ask what do you have your scope zeroed to. Ive got mine zeroed at 30yrds and I had a nightmare ratting, due to the trajectory and hold under. Your poi seems in the cross hairs more or less.
  7. Something you may want to think about if you too have a new rifle. Ive been out in these cold conditions with my hw100 and noticed a power drop, the rifle is about 2 months old. So after doing some reading about all the grease thats clagged in these things and the change in viscosity with temperature change. I took it out with the chrono and fired it cold, then sat it infront of a blow heater for 10 minutes then fired it warm. The difference was about 2f lb. So I went and bought some degreaser from my local gun shop, today I degreased the action. Im now happy after doing the same tests that i
  8. I had a similar incident, I went to a perm about 30min drive. Set up my ns50 to find the battery was dead. I left it plugged into the camera unit. So off home I went and got drunk instead.
  9. Put a large sheet over your head and ns, just have the barrel poking out.You may look like a twat, but who cares if your killing them.

  14. Went to asda last night, and set my stall out with loads to watch on sky+. They had every oil you can think of, except walnut oil! So I just got drunk instead. Ill try to get to tescos over the next couple of days. Cheers men.
  15. hi jjm does it soak in properly, ive heard it or similar stuff doesent take very well. Does it change the colour much?
  16. hello everyone, ive got my hands on my new rifle with its lovely walnut stock. I would like to protect the stock from weather, but I dont want to change the colours if I can help it. So is there some kind of oil I can use without drastically changing the appearance? Thanks dave.

  19. Remybolt, yes was a big moon, but was cloudy and the odd shower. I started sitting, sat for some time, nothing. took a walk about, using high fences and other large things like sheds, coops, caravans as cover, nothing. I was using a ns50 with filter, and was dressed in camo inc hat and gloves. Anyway, went for a look this aftermoon and shot six of the little buggers, they dont seem to phased by humans and are quite brave eating and drinking out of hen feeders.
  20. yeah, i think ill have a look this aft
  21. Ok, Ive been asked to go and shoot some rats on some allotments. I went down and was shown around yesterday. So i waited for dark took the r10 and nitesite and off i went. Got there at 1830 leaving at 2030, not one rat to be seen. Ive been told by 3 people they have a big problem and that its crawling with them. So i packed up and went elsewhere and shot some bunnies. Got a text this morning saying he has seen at least 10 rats today, so i guess there scared of the dark?
